no huggies shortages here in VA that I know of. i do prefer the huggies for my tall, skinny baby because the waist is so stretchy. and my dd prefers huggies pull-ups because they have princesses on them.

I've seen those signs posted at the major grocery store around here (Giant Eagle's in Pittsburgh, PA).

The ones you posted about have been up for months, but now they have new ones stating that they will be short-stocked until January 2008! lol

They had everything except for the Huggies Supreme. Seriously, not one pack of huggies supreme on the shelves.

I have no idea what's going on. I'm due mid-November and I'm hoping to have enough stockpiled to alst me through the huggies supreme shortage! lmbo....never thought there'd be a diaper shortage!

Thanks for posting about the newborn diapers. I too am due in mid-november as PP has said. I have only been buying size 1 and up also thinking, they aren't going to be in newborn diapers anytime and I will get enough from the hospital or as shower gifts that I would be better off stockpiling the bigger sizes. Now I will have to make sure to add some newborn sizes into my stockpile. Hopefully there will be more good diaper deals between now and november. I guess all us preggie women out there are raiding the diapers. I haven't bought huggies, because of the good deals on pampers, but I know I have seen them in stores.

My son was about 10 lb at birth and went down to as low as 8 lb 14 oz before we left the hospital. We only used 1 pack of newborn once we got home, and that was given to us at the hospital.

DS was 8lbs 12oz at birth, but I'm not sure what he was at discharge. We got about one pack of diapers from the hospital, but then had to return to the hopsital for jaundice after being home two days so we got about another 1/2 pack from that visit. DS likes to poop a lot so those diapers went QUICKLY! I haven't figured out how many diapers I use generally in a day but I'd guess 10 to 12. Oh, he was 8lbs 4oz. on our hospital stay for jaundice. The size 1's fit pretty well, but are just too tall with the umbilical cord. DS was 21 1/2 inches tall, so not short either. I'd just buy one or two packs and save the receipts so you can exchange or return them if you don't need them...that way you're not out anything.

Just keep in mind that if you have a smaller baby, you will go through lots of newborn diapers. My twins came home at just under 6lbs each. We probably went through about 20 packs of newborn diapers. Just keep the recipts.

OPs baby was 9 lbs 15 oz. I wouldn't classify that as small! LOL I don't think she'll need 20 packs of nb diapers.

Plenty of Huggies in RI.
Wish I'd heard about all these big babies loosing as much weight as my daughter did in hosp. They got me so nervous about it at my hosp. we ended out giving her formula by syringe & then she really didn't want to deal with the breast. I think alot of these higher weight babies are full of extra fluid or poop at birth & just going by regular weight loss charts is not really accurate with them.
