Default What age is too old for holiday treat bags?

My oldest son is in 1st grade this year. Is that too old to do treat bags for the class for holidays? I teach preschool, where class parties are a huge deal and parents take off work just to attend and several bring treats and goodie bags. When I went to a couple of his kindergarten parties last year, it seemed there wasn't much parent involvement. This year, the 1st grade teacher seems even less interested in parent involvement for parties. I know 1st graders are still at an age that they would love a treat bag... but I don't wanna be an annoying parent who treats the kids like babies! I would think it's no big deal.... but what do you think?

A lot of schools are trying to discourage parties and sweets, I don't know if that's the reason for the seeming lack of interest at your school? Some even have policies now about no cupcakes for birthdays etc.

Now, having said that, there is NO age where kids are too old for treat bags

I drove a school bus for a period of about 4 years, had an elementary route, middle school route and a high school route. EVERY holiday I gave out candy filled goodie bags to all 110 or so kids I drove daily.

    They loved them

yeah, I totally understand the sweets thing! I usually try to do like a granola bar or 100% fruit fruit snacks in my goody bags with like a sucker so it's one "healthy" and one sweet thing. Then other favors such as pencils, notepads, rings, etc..

Yup, little treats like that, pencils, rings, notepads are great for kids and they DO like them!! It makes them feel special, it really does!

Heck even as an adult, if I find something on clearance (like this week at CVS they had their 4 pack of small neon sticky notes on clearance, ended up being 25 cents) I buy it because I know my 23 year old daughter will love it, my SIL will love it - it's a "treat" because someone gave you something
