Anyone had hand, foot and mouth?

Never even heard of such a thing... what is it, like chicken pox but shows up in certain areas only? How do they catch this in the first place? Seems like a bizarre thing that has recently surfaced or something?

I work in child care. Just make sure that is what it is. WE have been having some crazy stuff come up the last few weeks. the blisters around the mouth could be strep if they dont have it anywhere else

I had never heard of it until all three of mine had it at the same time. That was a rough week - they couldn't eat and were so little they had a hard time telling us where it hurt. NO one told us about the magic mouthwash! We just alternated tylenol and motrin.

It's caused by one of the coxsackie viruses, if you have heard of that. One of the coxsackies also causes herpangina, which is pretty similar.

My two toddler had it over thanksgiving this year. One just in mouth, the other had it on hands, feet, outside of mouth, and really bad inside, and bad in diaper area. Neither one would sleep for more than 20 min to an hour for a week and would not eat well. Wish I knew about the magic mouthwash back then.
