    Default Diaper Disposal

    Hello All
I am a expecting mother next month with my first baby

With this forum, I am getting lot of knowledge

But pls, can some1 guide me on how to dispose off diapers ????
I dont wanna be ripped off with Diaper genie thing, as i saw its expensive on babies r us, along with it refills boxes.

I live in a hot place, so I know I will be taking out trash once per day

Im planning on buying 2 small trash cans with lids, to keep on each level on house and closest to changing area. The bags to put in will be grocery store bags
Do u think its a gud idea ?

Comments on how to go about this ????

Really appreciate ur responses in advance.

We would just throw the diapers in the regular trash and take the trash out once a day. Your idea sounds like it would work though, definitely don't spend the $$ on a diaper genie.

No diaper disposal system here. We put all the diapers in the regular trash. If they're stinky, they go in grocery bags. We take the trash out every other day or so, but if it's smelly, it goes out sooner. I never had a special trash can upstairs for diapers. If they were pee, they went in the bathroom trash. If they were stinky, they went downstairs.

I throw wet diapers in the regular garbage can.

Poopy diapers get thrown in grocery sack and I take straight out to the trash. When we lived in a condo...I would set it outside till my DH would get home and he would take it to the dumpster.

Wet diapers go to the trash. Stinky diapers go into a Wal-Mart bag and are placed in the main trash can (has a lid). After supper every night all smaller trashcans are empitied into the main trash can-then go out to the dumpster.

I echo PP-don't get a diaper genie-you will be just fine with a regular trash can.

Diaper genies are the best!!!!! :) I love them. They are a good way to dispose of the diapers. I have used it for both of my kids and it does a good job of getting rid of the smelly diapers in my opinion. I get them for all of my friends and family for baby showers. I also buy them some refills.

    Good luck deciding!

No diaper thingy here. I just put the wet diapers in garbage can lined with a platic grocery bag, that got thrown out at the end of the day. Poopy diapers, I put them inside the thin produce bags before putting inside the grocery bag. If the poop is hard though, then it got dumped in the toilet & flushed, then the diaper tossed. I also kept a stick-up or scented car hanger on the bottom of the garbage can to keep it from smelling!

I just used the Diaper Genie. Worked great for us. Although the other ideas would work fine too.

I don't toss the stinky diapers in the house cans I have a can on the front porch (that guests don't enter through) and I toss them out there. Other than that I have never owned a diaper thing either simply because the extra expense just wan't worth it to me. If I am at friends or families vistiting I will always carry grocery bags and take our little stinker diaper home. I would never leave it there. Sometimes along the ride home if e made a stop at the gas station or some place with an out door trash barrel I would toss it there. Congrats on being a new mommy, wishing you all the best :)

I use the Diaper Champ. It's like the Diaper Genie except you can use any type of bag in it. They do have inserts that you can use for it if you want (I've never tried them so I don't know if they're any good). I use the Ruffies bags from Target which are about $2.50 for 50 bags. They've always worked fine for me. I've also used Glad bags and they've worked fine too but the Target one's are cheaper. It contains the smell as long as it's closed but when you open it up to change the bag it can smell pretty bad if you've left it for more then a couple of days so I try to change it every other day or so.
