    Default Toddler bath time help!!

Most of you know that my son, Bug, will be 2 on Saturday. That aside, all of a sudden washing his hair at bath time has become a torture chamber of screams! He is freaking out on me b/c he doesn't want the water on his head. I've tried letting him do it, but we'll be there all night b/c he can't get the water to his head. Any suggestions?? Puh-leeze???

My Taylor is like that....but she doesn't like the water in her eyes. So what I do is wet my hands in the bath water, then wet her hair, then I get the shampoo and wash her hair....so far she is fine. Now when I rinse her hair I take the loofah that we use to bathe ourselves with(put bodywash on) and soak it with water and put it on her hair as fast as I can. All while making sure all parts of her hair is wet. If I use a cup she freaks and then it is a full on hitting session with her. Good Luck, Courtney!

Thanks Jessi! I'm going to see if that works. Thankfully, he doesn't hit. Instead he stands up while freaking out and I"m really worried he's going to seriously slip in there. I remember my sister going through this stage (we're 9yrs apart) when my mom would rinse her hair and I was the only one who was able to do it w/o her freaking out. UGH!

Do you have a kitchen sink with a sprayer? What I do for my LO is lay him down on the counter and place his head in my hand and shampoo and rinse with sprayer with my free hand. No water in the eyes!

    I totally feel for you!

My older son went through this too and I never did find a solution. I didn't know the cause for sure either which didn't help. He'd go into a pool but hated getting his face and head wet otherwise except once in a great while.

I sure hope Jessi's trick works.

I would lean my kids back and carefully pour the water so that it went down the back of their heads. As they got older I would get them to look up so the water wouldn't get in their eyes. You might try putting a sticker on the ceiling to see if he would look up at it for a few seconds while you rinse.

I lean the kids back and pour towards the back of their heads. DD will full on scream if water from washing her hair touches her face. By leaning her back, we avoid some of the screaming. I also hand her a dry washcloth immediately after washing her hair so she can dry her face. That seems to help her too.

My DD2 does the same thing. I'm a mean mom and just go for it LOL. I try really hard not to get water in her face, but if she's flipping out, I just do it because by then it's too late.

    Sorry I'm not any help.

I use to have my girls look up and use a dry wash cloth on the forehead to prevent the water from getting on the face. Good luck

Exactly! My 2.5 year old screams about it no matter what I do, so I don't prolong it. I just do a few dumps of water till the bubbles are gone.
