HI This week - good time to start stockpile?

Ok, so I posted a previous thread about beginning a diaper/wipe stockpile. I think I have the information to feel confident about beginning the process

So, I checked out this weeks ads for the stores I have around me and I came across:

CVS: BOGO 50% off & spend $30 get $10 ECB on select CVS-brand products. Includes jumbo packs of diapers.

Does anyone know the retail price on these diapers? Is this a good deal?

WAGS: Huggies Jumbo pack diapers or pull-ups - $8.49. I also have the insert coupon for $1.50/Huggies diapers.

So, if I go with size 1 Huggies Snug & Dry (56/pack) =
    $8.49-$1.50 = $6.99
    $6.99/56 = .15/diaper <--whoops! .12.5/diaper

    Good deal, or hold off?

Also, I have the insert for $3.00/Huggies Little Movers Slip-on. Is everyone using this coupon, and if so, where's a good deal?

I have also heard of people finding clearance diapers. Where should I look for these? Are they in the baby aisle with everything else, or "hidden" elsewhere?

in advance for all the help!

Wait. If you are not pregnant yet, I would either not buy diapers or buy at rock bottom prices. $6.99 for a jumbo is not a good deal IMO. The CVS deal might be better, but I can't say for sure unless I knew the prices.

Your math is a little off. $6.99 divided by 56 is 12.5 cents per diaper. However Huggies size 1 snug & dry have 50 diapers, so they're 14 cents per diaper. I would really aim for $0.10 a diaper. Since you have a long time to stockpile, you can be picky about the deals you chase. Your stockpile doesn't have to be complete by the time baby is born, so if you only have up to size 3, you can work on size 4 and 5 after baby is born. Diaper deals do come around a lot, so there's no pressure to get it down right this minute.

Have you considered Amazon? They do have some decent diapers deals on the big boxes, and they get shipped for free.

ETA: I am expecting #3 and am currently stockpiling. I have 1282 diapers, and I spent only $54.81 or 4.28 cents per diaper. I have used some Amazon gcs to get diapers cheap, like a box of 250 Pampers for $8 after gcs. I used $19 in RA money yesterday because it was expiring and I had nothing to roll it on. Another 2 pks for pennies (bought other stuff too). I'm only stockpiling through size 3 since DD2 still wears size 4 and 5.

ETA2: Just poked on Amazon. You can get a box of 300 size 1 Luvs for $26.59 if you use subscribe and save (which you can cancel easily). That's $0.09 a diaper, and you haven't even left your house. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info - this is definitely the feedback I need

Per the Diaper Chart - HotCouponWorld Diaper Chart - the size 1 Snug & Dry are 56/pack. Does this chart need updated? I don't want to have my math off when I'm trying to figure out cost per diaper.

Ok, so just thought to check online at the price of the CVS diapers. They are listed online @ $8.99/pack. There are 44 diapers in the size 1 jumbo pack.

    So....BOGO 50% off would yield 88 diapers for $13.49.
This is 15.3 cents/diaper. Not so great :0(
To get the $10 ECB, you have to spend $30 - so I would have to buy 5 packs which would be $35.97. This would yield 220 diapers.
    $35.97 - $10.00 ECB = $25.97/220 = 11.8 cents/diaper

I agree with amylynne. I wouldn't do the CVS deal or the Walgreens deal.

As far as clearance diapers, CVS had Just the Basics diapers marked to $1.99/jumbo pack and Pampers Sensitive size newborn & size 1 marked to $2.47/jumbo pack. For the Pampers, there are $2/1 coupons out... making them $0.74 per jumbo pack. My CVS keeps their clearance diapers in the regauler diaper/baby area. However, other stores may have them in a designated clearance section.

Target has boxes of Huggies Jeans diapers on clearance for 30 % off and Pampers Design Print diapers for 30 % off. For the Huggies, there are lots of $2/1 coupons out there and I've been getting catalinas for $3/1 any Huggies box all week. At my Target, the Huggies boxes were marked down to $13.65... minus the $5 in coupons... could meet your $0.10/diaper goal depending on sizes/number of diapers in boxes. Plus if you have the Target Redcard... that's an extra 0.05% off too. I found these diapers on end caps in the baby area.

For the Huggies Slip on diapers, CVS Red machine was giving out $3/1 coupon that you can combine with the manufacturer $3/1 coupon. They were on sale last week for $8.99... so after coupons $2.99/ jumbo pack. I am not sure on the diaper counts on these. And Target has a $2/1 coupon on their website for the Slip on Diapers that you can combine with the $3/1 manufacturer coupon for a total of $5 off per jumbo pack. Targets regular price for the Slip on diapers is either $8.99 or $9.99 depending on your store. Again, not sure of the diaper counts.

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing. Good luck.

If you are wanting to stockpile some diapers-now is the time to pick up the Swim Diapers. Right now at Dillons (Kroger) they are on closeout (in the diaper aisle) for $2.00 a pack (normally $7.99). You won't need a ton of these, but if you are in the diaper buying mood-this is a great price.

Since you don't know when your baby will be born, you can pick up a couple of each of the sizes (there are three).

Ugh - could have had a great deal this week....

Giant Eagle has Pampers big packs on sale for $19.99.
There is a promotion of buy 2, get .30 fuel perks.
Plus, a P&G promotion which would have yielded a $10 MIR.
    There are $2/1 floating around.
GE has a $1.00/1 eoffer - can only use eoffer once.

    So....
    PAMPERS BIG PACKS
$.30 bonus fuelperks wyb any 2 (ADV Card shown for all)
    $19.99 x 2 = $39.98
    - 2 X $2/1 8-7-11 SS
    - $1.00/1 eOffer
    =$34.98 OOP
    -$9.00 max FP
-$10 prepaid card – mail-in form prints at register
    =Net $15.98/2

I didn't take advantage of the deal, because I didn't have the $2/1 (that was right after the wedding and I didn't get that week's inserts). However, if I had gotten 2 boxes of #1's (92 per box), it would have been 8.7 cents/diaper.

Forgot to answer this. Yes, the chart is outdated. Diaper packages have gotten smaller. I can't link you to it, but I use the diaper chart on baby cheapskate. Hers was updated in 4/11, and it looks accurate for what I've bought lately. She also has weekly posts about diaper and wipe deals. But note that her "stockupportunity" is higher than what I would pay. She does break it down to price per diaper, so keep an eye on that.
