Yes, that is what she has. I had never heard about it before she was diagnosed. She was very jaundice when she was little, the doctors thought it was a million different bad diseases before they figured it out so in the scheme of things it is alright. She is healthy & only has to see her specialist once a year now (she is 8 now).

It is a small world though, when my sister explained it to her she went to school & convinced all her friends she was dying. Come to find out the therapist at the school (who is 30 something) has it also & is just fine. I love her dramatic butt!

Most people who have it don't know it until it's too late and they have lung damage.

My son was going to be tested for it..when they couldn't figure out what was wrong with his lungs...

But when they figure out that they have it as a child...they can help them avoid the things they need to avoid to avoid the lung damage from happening.

I have been able to find coupons on ebay for $15/1 any similac formula. Maybe you could use these on a case of RTF? I pay about $5 for a $15 coupon. I've seen quite a few RTF coupons on there also. Also, get all your friends and family to sign up for similac strong moms. Even if you only get 1 check out of it, it didn't cost you anything to do it. On the second page of the registration you can mark "friend or family". Also, you might try e-mailing similac. I e-mailed them explaining I have a hard time finding coupons for the Alimentum (toys r us powder specials and lots of coupons tend to be on the RTF or SimplePac size.). They mailed me a coupon for $5/1 directly in response to my inquiry. Then I received 2 sets of checks in the mail --that may have been coincidence. Finally, if you have a friend that can use Enfamil ask them to sign up from Similac, you sign up for Enfamil and trade.

I second what todisue says-ask everyone you know to sign up for the Similac coupons so hopefully you'll get more. While they're at it have them sign up for Enfamil too (you should sign up too if you haven't already) then you can trade the coupons for Similac coupons (if you don't know anyone who will switch with you post an ad on Craigslist and you should easily be able to find someone). You can also try asking for samples at your pediatricians office and your OB's office each time you go in. I would also monitor the price on Amazon as the prices tend to fluctuate a lot so you can wait until it drops then stock up.

My kids couldn't drink the powdered, only the concentrate (have you tried that? cheaper than RTF). I traded for Similac checks in the trading section on here and used them along with coupons to get most of it for almost free. Most traders are more generous than ebay sellers, you could get a better deal.

Also, when you sign up for Similac see if anyone else in your family or friends (that live close by) will sign up too. They may send checks to both places and that would help out a lot.
