I had a really good supply, but when my DD went through times where she needed more--I'd take them 3 times a day for 3-4days. They helped give me the boost she needed. Or if I needed extra for the next day I would take them to make enough so I could leave her at home with a sitter. They do have mapple syrup smell but, I am a picky eater/drinker so pills it was.

I have seen it at my larger Kroger affiliate store. It was the Sundown Naturals brand. They put out coupons and they go B1G1 pretty regularly (in fact I think they are right now). In the inserts it'll be $1/1 coupons but since I buy vitamins there a lot I often get cats for $2/1, or see a $2/1 on the Kroger store flyer, you can get 1 e-coupon for $2/1 and stuff. You have to buy a lot of them because you'll take 3 of them 3X a day!

I was able to get by with oatmeal and lots of water, but people I know who needed the help that's where they bought them. They were much more expensive at the natural foods store!

I don't take it for that reason but perhaps I should have since I didn't produce enough milk.

Anyway... Swansons online is the cheapest place I've found to get it.

If anyone is an asthmatic, they should be really careful taking fenugreek. I tried to take it and it caused my asthma to really flair up. So just be careful. I decided it was not worth me not being able to breathe.

Yes, what she said! I got mine at GNC. I only took a couple capsules a day. If you are taking a lot I would check into what is safe. The levels I was taking were very low, but yes, your pee will kind of smell like maple syrup and sometimes my skin would kind of smell a bit. I never noticed my milk or my baby's breath smelling like it. But it probably has to do a lot with the amount you take. I took it because I was exclusively pumping (my son did not ever suck properly so I could not breast feed).

I did also eat oatmeal (the real stuff, not packets) every day and it seemed to help. And yes, like others have said, absolutely make sure you are drinking enough water and getting enough sleep! Also make sure you are eating enough. Even if you want to lose weight, remember you need those extra 500 calories a day (including some fat) for nursing. =)

Biggest (and only in my case) side effect was the smell. They actually use fenugreek as an additive when making maple syrup (or that is what I was told) and that is exactly what it smells like. Consequently, so does your breast milk, your pee, and your baby's breath, LOL. Too bad I HATE maple syrup!!!

I used to buy them at Kroger, the usually have them B1G1 and I want to say they were around $7-$8 a bottle. I can not think of the name brand at the moment (possible nature made, it's something with nature in it). Its common to find hang tags at Kroger for them also. I have seen them on clearance lately for for $1-$2, so check your Krogers (or whatever kroger chain you may have) clearance section. If I happen to find them for $1 again I'll pick up a few bottles and PM you. (I do have 3 prego friends so they won't go to waste if you don't want anything I may find)

(I had to LOL at the maple syrup comment! I think I always smelt like it when I would sweat. HAHA)

ETA: Sundown Naturals....as someone else postes, is the brand I would buy, and the same one I have been finding on clearance.
