| Re: The official Duggar family discussion thread! But then you have whackadoodle moms like the octopulet mom...that think it's no big deal to deliver babies that early...and it is.
As I said..I don't think the Duggars are trying to get that across...but the news agencies do a big disservice to what really goes on in babies that early..when they put out stuff like that. That child is basically on life support, hooked to a gazillion things...cannot eat, cannot keep itself warm and they're lucky if she's not on a vent...most likely for sure it's on oxygen. It comes with a host of problems...that often are permanent. The baby is not healthy period...the baby is alive and that is all.
This honestly saddens me that they are now going to have to go down this road...to have to face such uncertain futures for a child. To know that there's a good likelyhood that the child will not even make it...and that if it does...there are so many things that possibly will be wrong. As someone who has been told that there child has a terminal illness..and he is going to die....it's a whole new level of emotions...that you have to deal with...and it's not easy, nor is it fuzzy and warm. It's sad and cold and lonely.
We were very lucky...that in the end...they eventually were wrong...and my son will not die, as a child from what he has...but the awareness, the sorrow, the mourning for what your child is not going to have...is huge, and I still go through that occasionally now. I have 2 healthy children...so I know it is different.
The next few hours, days and weeks, months...are probably going to be the worst of there life...watching your child struggle and suffer. Children at 25 weeks are in pain, they have horrible things done to them, to save there life and nearly always have complications that can be life changing. They are not little feeder, growers. They end up dealing with brain bleeds, and ROP and severe lung issues, BPD and NEC and other awful stuff...and there is just nothing that puts a happy face on all of that. |

Now, I wouldn't have that many children, but that's my choice. Does her comment sound a little harsh to anyone else? |
I agree. Ive seen far worse comments on news articles about the preemie  Its interesting how people will carry a torch for a womans right to end a pregnancy, but not give a woman the same freedom to bear children according to her own wishes and abilities. This couple has supported their children from day one with help from noone. We have no right to be critical of their choices. Quite the opposite, we should be thanking them for doing more than their fair share to further this great country. They are raising respectful children who will not be a burden on anyone. The person who made the assumption of Gods will probably doesn't even know Him personally :shrug7:

i understand what your saying i have had a baby in the NICU born at 28 weeks i have also lost a 10 month old child who asperated. with the son that was a premie for the first few weeks the doctor just told me his chances were 50/50 after the first 2 weeks i got more positive comments. having a baby in the NICU was bad when it was just me i wanted to be there 24/7 but she has other children she has to care for. the picture they have up shows a healthy baby not tubes and that maybe why the reports seem so not serious. has for loosing a child it's a pain the never goes away. although the duggars are strong and have it together i think when it comes to their kids They have said they leave it up to God and that they will love all their children no matter what. all i can say is pray for this baby and this family because this family can teach us all about life. as for the octo mom she's nutts. she is not playing with a full deck i hyave a 2, 3, 5,17, 18,and 22 year old and going to the store is a zoo no less to have 8 the same age +6 at different ages and being single they all have to go with her. it'll surprise me if she's hasn't been hotlined a few times since june..... |
