I know someone who went to ER because she was sick and they told her she was pregnant (like almost 9 months!) of course she said she didn't know! Well the next day she had him! Crazy!

Myself on the otherhand planned both of mine, so I knew. Would have anywho because I got morning sickness so bad I started loosing weight and had to be put on meds!

I just couldn't imagine not knowing the whole time!

I was 22 weeks along with my newest addition when I found out. We had no clue!

I was on Nuva-Ring so I was used to skipping multiple periods. I actually lost weight -that is what sent me to the doctor. I all of a sudden (like in a week) lost 5-10 lbs for no reason - I had not been sick, was eating normal, etc.

In the time between conception and finding out I traveled to Houston, TX for business, went on a cruise to the Bahamas, spent three weeks traveling for work (Iowa, Japan, Iowa - we live in NC) and who knows what else. Plus I am 39 and a Type 2 Diabetic who was not being the most diligent about my health.

I was terribly concerned from finding out until my ultrasound 2 days later about the condition of the baby because of how I had lived. Even when the GYN (this office did not do OB) got me scheduled for my ultrasound she told me I should bring my husband and when the office called to confirm the appt the next day they referrd to it as a viability scan. I was relieved when the utlrasound showed a very healthy baby boy.

I have a 14 year old so I have been pregnant before. I guess I was just living such a hectic lifestyle that I did not notice any of the symptoms - no morning sickness, no breast tenderness, no weight gain. The fatigue was easily written off to jet lag, staying up too late, etc.

I delivered at 39 weeks so I affectionately referred to the pregnancy as my 17 week pregnancy.

I had my tubes tied when I delivered so hopefully no more surprises (I know it is not 100% but it is the best odds I know of).

The one scary thing I leared was that a doctor does not have to accept you as a patient if they have never seen you before. I was turned down by one of the two practices in town. I did not want to go to the other one at first due to a bad experience with my first born but it ended up working out. I thought I was going to end up having to go to the 'clinic'.

I got this bizzare news just yesterday, as it turns out.

I got pregnant in late February and had what I thought was a miscarriage (about 6 weeks along) in mid-April. U/s showed no fetal pole, collapsing sac, and I was bleeding. I've had several, so I figured this was just one more.

I went to the ER yesterday abdominal pain and was told that I was pregnant. Whaattt? U/s showed an 8 week empty gestational sac with an HcG level of 45. Both the ER dr and my OB said there's no way this could be the previous miscarriage pregnancy - this has to be something all new.

Oy vey. DH and I have been trying NOT to conceive again until my body has a chance to reset and recuperate - I've been exhausted the last few months. Apparently I'm going to need to build a brick wall or something to keep his baby cooties off me.

So even if this pregnancy was viable (which it probably isn't), who knows when I would have figured it out. Probably once I saw a foot : I would hope I would get a clue.

My uncle was stationed in Desert Storm when he got an overseas emergency phone call:

    Hospital "You have a daughter"
Him "Yes, I have a daughter. Did something happen??"
Hospital "No, you have a NEW daughter"

I can only imagine how the whole conversation went.

Apparently right before he left, my aunt conceived. Had NO clue. Went to the hospital in extreme pain, thinking it was her gall bladder, appendix, or something else. Only to be told she was in full blown labor.

I didn't know I was pregnant with DD til I was about 9 weeks along. I had light bleeding, what I thought was the 24 hour flu (I swear I only was sick over a weekend), etc. At 9 weeks I told my now stepmother something was up (I was 16, had DD at 17) and she took me to Planned Parenthood. I about fell out of my chair. DD is now a happy healthy almost 13 year old.
