Default Ideas on decorating shared children's room

We are moving to house and the kids are getting the biggest room. We will be staying here for at least two years so i'm thinking about painting and not just one wall pink and one wall blue, something a bit more, not too crazy but cute and relatively simple to pull off. My kiddos will be 6, 4 and a year, in June, July and august, respectively, girl, boy, girl.

My first thought is to give each child a separate wall and make it theirs, like my daughter is creative, loves to color, craft, sing and dance. My son is all boy, trucks, trucks, cars, trains. But then I think it would look a little odd, maybe?

    Any suggestions?

Is there a common interest? An animal or the zoo or activity?

My two youngest love Westerns and playing cowboys, so we are creating a horse, cowboy, cowgirl room using colors that work for both. Then one wall they both get to paint a scene of cacti with flowers and tumbleweeds.

My brother and I had jungle bedspreads that were simplistic in detail and bright colors. I'm not even sure how that came about, but my parents chose it and we liked it a lot.

What about using the "chalk" paint for the walls or maybe the wall that connects their two sides.

I like the idea of giving them both a side and going all out with each theme. You could buy felt to match their interests and each child one of the felt tie blankets (no sewing). I did these for my kids for Christmas and they love them. For a twin size it took me about 2 hours to do the first one and 1.25 hours to do the second one....so not a huge time commitment!

I would probably do one theme that suits all 3 like a safari, under the sea (pirates for boy, mermaids for girls, fish for all), sun and moon, alphabet (like a schoolhouse maybe), outdoors (bugs for boy, garden for girls), farm (tractor for boy, horses for girls), or a castle (knights/dragon for boy, princesses for girls).

I am kind of OCD so having 3 walls with 3 different colors and 3 different themes would drive me CRAZY lol. My girls share a room, and if I change one set of sheets, the other set gets changed too because they have to match.
