    Default Gender Selection Kits ???

    Hello All!

First of all- please don't judge me! My intention is not at all to stir up a heated discussion on whether gender selection is "right" or not. It's just that I have 3 boys (all of which I obviously love more than I could ever describe!) Each time I was pregnant I was sure they were girls! And each time I was- just being honest here- a bit sad that I was wrong. I have always seen myself mothering several little girly girls.... and while that is not going to be the case, I would still love to try once more for a girl.

sooo.... I was actually just searching the internet looking for ideas on trying to conceive a girl. Yes, I know they are mostly all wives tales but I was still curious. I ended up coming across this: Baby Gender Selection - Safe and Effective - Conceive a boy or girl : GenSelect.com

It's apparently a kit that is supposedly 96% accurate in selecting the gender of your baby when used correctly. It's also money-back guaranteed. Does anyone have any experience using a product like this. I am skeptical of it but hopeful. lol

Again, if you disapprove of humans "playing God" and trying such products, I don't need to know about it. I am just looking for advise from anyone who is actually familiar with such products (or has heard anything about them!) Thanks so much!

I have heard of those products but have not tried them. I have only one kid. I actually wanted a boy. I felt a boy would be easier. But I knew as soon as I was pregnant that she was a girl. And she was. And then I had a very high risk pregnancy at age 39 so decided one would be enough.

However if I were in your shoes I would do whatever the old wive's tales say plus maybe get the kit.

Seriously, check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler!

It's common knowledge that boy sperm are lazy and die quickly versus the girl sperm that can live for days. What this book teaches you(amongst other things) is how to chart your cycle. Once you figure out your ovulation day, you need to plan ahead and have sex maybe 2 -3 days before you ovulate. The boy sperm should die before you even ovulate, leaving just the girl sperm to hit that egg and BAM you got a girl!

Good Luck and keep us updated!!!

I don't know anything about the Gender Selection Kits but we did try the Gender Prediction Kits (after we conceived). It had a 96% accuracy and was wrong for me. I sent the company an email and they said it must have been the test or me not doing as the instructions directed, so they sent me a new one free of charge. I took the second test and it said boy again. I had a girl.

I understand where you are coming from though. We have 2 girls. We just knew the second one was a boy. We even had an early ultrasound that showed, what everyone thought was boy parts (turned out to be swollen girl parts), but we had a girl. DH said he could be convinced to have another baby but one of his reservations is he would really want a boy this time (he wants to even the score and not be so out-numbered).

Not sure about the kits I have heard of them but nothing about results.
I wanted my 2 boys and waited over 2 yrs to get pregnant again I told DH
I wanted a girl this time and he said ok lets try so we both wanted a girl and
my friend was so funny when I was pregnant she wouldn't let me eat any jelly
beans that were boy colors and said I need to wear more girl colors and always think its a girl. well I have my girl and she is our last.
    so good luck.
oh I heard if you have them 2 years or less apart it most likely will be same sex as before but not 100% of the time they also get most of the genes from the one before it.

My mom used this technique in 1970 and got what she wanted. Apparently Othodox Jewish families have been using it for centuries.

Female bearing sperm survive better in an acidic environment. Use a douche with vinegar prior to sex and you drastically increase the chances for a girl.

Male bearing sperm prefer alkaline envirments. Douching with a baking soda solution increases their odds of survival.

People on TTC boards are all about the lime juice on a tampon for a girl or whatever it is these days, as if they have come up with some stunning new idea. Not so much. That kit seems to use the same concept. You could even use a coupon for the vinegar or baking soda.

ETA: Holy crap. $200? No way. They've got a great scam going there. I bet the ingredients include vinegar or baking soda douches or something very similar.

Dang it! Why didn't I know this before? LOL Of course I wouldn't give up my Son for a girl now. Too bad I'm not having more. I could use these methods.

In terms of genetics, this is simply not true. Each time you get pregnant, you have a 50/50 chance for either gender regardless of your previous children. The reason they get most of the genes from the one before it is because they're from the same parents. My sister and I are 12 months apart, and while we look alike, you can't tell that she's related to my mom, and you can't tell that I'm related to my dad. My girls are 17 months apart, and DD1 looks exactly like me, and DD2 resembles DH's sister when she was a toddler.

I've heard of what MrsPinecone said about male and female sperm. There are ways to help along whichever sperm you want without spending $200 on a kit.
