    HI TTC & Stockpiling

So, I know there is a very similer thread to this, but wanted to get some specific answers. I am getting married in July. We have been together for nearly 10 years and are not planning on waiting long before TTC.

I am thinking about beginning a stockpile of baby items when I see a killer sale, BUT have no idea what a killer sale would be.

Can someone give me advice on what is a good deal on diapers and wipes? What other baby items to you stock up on before baby comes?

The Huggies deal at RA this week is a GREAT deal!!! I got 4 packs of Huggies, sizes 2, and 3 for about $5 OOP (giving consideration to the UPS I had, $3 Huggies Q's and a $3 Survey Q) That is AMAZING!!! All of my boys are out of Diapers, but my neighbor's daughter is expecting in August, so I am making her a Diaper Cake. Also, the Huggies wipes Q's that came out today for .50/1 is a great deal, if you have a store that doubles. I usually pick up each pack for .99 after coupon. Good LUCK!!!

Hmm, I have a baby in diapers my stockpile is non-existent, so if I can get diapers for less than $6 for the jumbo pack that's a good deal to me. BEFORE she was here when I was pregnant I would get them if they were under $4. Good Luck!!!!

I pay $4 per jumbo or less. The price per diaper depends on the size. Bigger sizes are more expensive because there are fewer in the package than smaller sizes. For the size 5 Pamper Cruisers which have 23 diapers, it's 17.4 cents each (happen to see the package from my computer lol). But for a size 2 Pampers Swaddlers which has 42 diapers, it's 9.5 cents each.

I stocked up on lots of baby items when ttc diapers and wipes of course, bottles for free after coupons/doubles, a convertible carseat at target for 12.50...clothes you will want to wait until you find out the gender unless it is really cheap and you may use it as agift..I would buy lots of clothes at tcp outlet for like .89 each and then keep them or gift them once I found the gender....most the wipes I have gotten free, and the diapers about 2-3 a pack, but would use cats and ecbs to pay so oop probably than 2$...

Sounds like a lot of people are talking about drug store deals. Do you find these are the best places to find deals? I don't currently do drug store deals....

I think the best diaper deals are at drugstores. The only exception is that the Kroger I shop at sometimes puts diapers on clearance and if you happen to be there when they do you can get some crazy super deals.
At drugstores, I usually try to pay no more than $4 per pack of diapers. You can get generics for less but I like huggies and pampers.

For sure I find drug stores cheaper on diapers when you combine store sales, coupons, and the drug store loyalty programs! I haven't bought diapers elsewhere in over a year!

Just a warning about the diapers and wipes. Some babies are allergic! Luckily my daughter could use any wipes, although I did buy the unscented ones whenever I could. But she could only wear the Huggies diapers or the store brands that were similar. The others simply didn't fit her right and also gave her a rash. My nephew had a similar problem and could only use the Luvs. So while it's a good idea to have some diapers in the house before the baby arrives, you might want to get two or more brands and sizes, keeping in mind that you may never be able to use some of them. Although Angela was only 1 oz. smaller than average weight when she was born, she quickly lost weight due to jaundice and dropped from the newborn size diapers to the preemie. So the ones I had at home did me no good! Well for the moment anyway. She did quickly grow into them, but was unable to use the Pampers at all.

Chances are you will be inundated with free baby products and coupons. I was. I think part it was from the birthing class I took. I think they sent my name out to various places. And then I also got a free diaper bag, a few diapers and other things and coupons from the OB/Gyn's office. It was given away from a formula company and it did have their name on the bag but the nurse told me they were not allowed to give away the formula because they felt people would think they were taking a stand against breast feeding. She said they donated the formula to a food bank.

My daughter is 12 now so I can't say how it is today with coupons. But in those days there were tons to be had online and in various parenting magazines. One product I used a ton of was Totally Toddler. It's a stain remover. I went to their website and they had a coupon you could print off. I can't say if they still do or not. But I did get many coupons this way. And it seems that once you get on some mailing lists, they sell your name (or at least send it) to countless other companies and your mail box will be stuffed with coupons. This got to the point of annoyance to me, especially after my daughter got older and we had no use for those coupons any more. I was actually pretty glad that we moved to another state when she was age 4 because the coupons then stopped coming. Heh!

Also, do not buy baby food too soon, especially things like boxed cereals. Those things do go bad. And beware buying too much of any one food before giving it to the baby. My daughter didn't like most baby foods and simply wouldn't eat them. So I wound up giving many little jars of food to the food bank!

We're expecting this October. I'm stockpiling right now. Most of the deals I have found have been at CVS and Walgreens. Mostly CVS using coupons and ECB deals. I also traded on here homemailer baby coupons from Huggies and Pampers.

I seriously have diaper brands all over the place: Walgreens brand, CVS brand, Kroger Comfort brand, Luvs, Huggies, and Pampers.

Based on kids in our family, no one has had diaper issues. So I'm just praying that they work, LOL! I also figured in that if some of the diapers were more leaky, you can use pantyliners or pads to help with soaking up. The kid can live with that for a pack of diapers.

If you don't want to do coupons, Amazon.com is great. They have Amazon Mom which gives you a discount and free shipping. They give you 3 months free. I believe every $30 or something you spend, a new month is renewed. You can also do subscribe and save to save more. You can go through www.goodsearch.com and get money back for a charity you want to support when ya shop there too.

I used the stockpile suggestion in the above sticky threads to come up with my own formula for how many diapers to buy up to size 5 for our child. I keep track of how many I have vs how many I need to buy. But it's all a guessing game if the kid will be in newborn/size 1's due to birth weight.

It's giving me something to do. I'm glad I waited until I pregnant though.
