No I'm to paranoid. I have two boys but who knows if i would have been able to concieve or birth a child. You never know. I mean if you have the extra money and you would consider donating it if children didn't happen for you. Then go for it.
Hey All!
I was curious about this because every once in a while, I'll see a GREAT deal on clearance diapers that really shouldn't be passed up if I have a coupon that would make them practically free. We're not expecting to start a family for another year or two, but I was curious about your thoughts on this. I think I'm partially crazy for doing this, but then again, to get diapers for pennies now compared to dollars later...?

Consider couponing for your local shelter: $30.00 OOP has gotten them 41 body washes, 30 deodorants, and a whole lot of toothpaste and toothbrushes to date!

I think it's a great idea if you don't have much money tied up in them. But I wouldn't buy too many of one particular type or brand - you may end up hating them. Maybe they're on clearance because they're crummy and no one liked them but if they're cheap enough you can surely make do through a couple of packs.

Nope. There are always more deals to come if/when you find out you're truly expecting.
That being said, DH and I are seriously considering a third, so I have bought some smaller size diapers if I couldn't find my kiddos' sizes, but I needed to buy 3 for a deal, KWIM. I have about 4 packages of size 1 and 2s. However, my SIL just had a baby, and DH's cousin is due in July, so they won't be wasted.

If you are talking about a few packages here and there and for FREE or almost FREE than yes! But then I think about the Twins from the Extreme Couponing show and that was crazy! But obviously they have the space to store it all. So if they are really cheap AND you have the space then go for it!

no!! you never know what could happen I mean there is no promise that you ever will be..then to store the things, why let them set there in the way and collect dust? plus there could be some recall on them and you not know for your not useing them..

The queen of April Fools was here.
I wouldnt only because even if I was trying looking at them would depress me that I dont need them at that time.
If they are for pennies or free I would get them and donate to a battered womans center or a young mothers group

I would if they were able to be bought for less than $1.00/pk and definitely would if they are FREE. If you end up having kids and can use them...GREAT. If not, there will always be baby showers and they could make an expectant couple a nice gift for cheap! And if nothing else, you can donate them and possibly even write off anything you paid for them on your taxes.

Thanks for the feedback!
I definitely hear what you all are saying about the idea of what if he/she doesn't end up liking the brand I choose. I just figured I'd either give them away to a friend of mine having a baby/has a baby or giving them to a crisis nursery in our area.
I would never tie up anything over 1.00 for a package of them, that's for sure, because I really don't need them, and as some of you said, there will always be great deals later.
Do diapers really get recalls? I've never heard of such a thing LOL I guess it makes sense though because everything can be recalled. May I ask why they would recall them? Just have my curiosity peaked now...
Those twins... yeah, they kind of had me thinking about this idea. I wouldn't go to THAT extreme, maybe a pack here and there if they were under 1.00 for the pack, but it's the free after coupons diapers I find in the clearance bins that kill me!
I talked about all of this with my DH over dinner last night, and we pretty much came up with the same pros/cons of almost everything you all posted, and he thought that if they were free, then why not? Worse comes to worst, I will give them away to someone-- everyone knows someone with a little one in diapers! If they are under a $1.00... maybe I'll get them, maybe not; I don't want to look crazy to anyone going past my stockpile shelves in the basement (I can see it now: "You've been hiding a baby from us all this time?!?" "Is there something you want to tell us?" etc) so maybe only 5 tops.
Any other thoughts are great appreciated!
