Well glad to see, I thought maybe I was a pretty crazy mother. My DD is the ONLY child not fully PT in the 2's (she is a early b-day (Sept.))

#1 - 3.6 years Started over pressure from mother to PT at 18 months.
#2 - 2.1 years for pee (she had kidney problems anyhow) 2 3/4 for poo. She did it on her own I never started to PT her.
#3 - 3.9 years It took almost 2 months of intense training (never in a diaper/taking to potty every hour). HOWEVER, he didn't walk till he was 2.4 years old. He has always hit those types of "milestones" late.
#4 - She is now 3.7 years and pee is about 1/2 in and has poo'd once in the potty.
    #5 - I'm waiting till #4 is done.
    #6 - Not born yet.

And yes I do consider day and night training to different creatures. I have been lucky this far to have only #3 have 2 accidents at night after being PT'd.

I think I'm going to put in an application to an IVY league school when they get to that age (if they aren't going to one). And write went pee'd in potty at 9 months. Just to see what they say. (#2 did go pee in potty at 9 months. BUT, it was because, I thought my hubby said the water was ready, then he said "no", so I held her over the toilet till it got warmer. LOL.)
    Mom to DS (8), DD (6), DS (4), DD (3), DD (2).

DS is 4 1/3 and still not even close. He's the most stubborn kid.

The doc says it's nothing physical and we've been doing everything known to man to get him trained. He's just not having it.

I actually HAVE one of those friends who has her son in underwear at 12 months. SHE'S the one who is trained.

I consider potty trained, being able to go with very few accidents, and knowing when they have to go. My 4 yr old just finally got it this weekend......its been a week since he has had any accidents, not exactly sure what happened, but it took 2 years for it to happen!!!

My SIL insists that she is throwing out all the diapers and putting my niece in underwear on her 2nd birthday. Good luck with that one. I already told her I won't be babysitting then - I had enough problems when they decided to go cold turkey on the bottles the day after her first birthday!

I work with preschoolers... as a teacher I consider them fully potty trained when they are able to get on the toilet, use it, and wipe without assistance. If they need help unbuttoning pants, that would still qualify them as potty trained. I do consider them potty trained even when I have to remind them to go, so long as they do not have accidents regularly.

I have worked with infants up to 24 months in the past. There have been some that I was able to put on the toilet often enough that they only had accidents maybe once a day. I still did not consider that potty trained because like others have said, that was just me knowing what to do & them going along with it.

I always potty train right at 2. Most children by that age are talking and have a basic understanding of things. My eldest biological son just threw his diapers at us and told us "Kai, Kai's diapers, Ashton not a baby" I've also potty trained both of my nieces at the same age, although Kenna took till she was about 4 months past 2 to really get it. (In other words, go herself, she would just grab and cry for those first few months) I think 2 is the perfect age and no matter how quick or slow (as long as nothing is wrong)most children can get it then. One things I've found useful though when potty training kids is having older kids. I have to admit my two older step kids, now 10 and 8 really helped with showing the little ones. I think that they wanted to be like them and felt less rebelious with them telling them how to do it. And all my children except for my eldest niece, who's now 4,(my sister works and parties a lot so I have my nieces 5 nights out of 7) are night-time potty trained, although our 8 year old daughter still wet till she was 7, and Ash who's almost 3 will yell for me till I walk him to the bathroom at night because he's afraid of the dark. However, I have a 1 year old, and have had others who were 1, and I don't see how 1 could ever be possible. My mom claims all of us kids were potty trained at 1 and I don't believe it. Maybe for a really quick child a few months before 2, but not 1. Not to mention I feel like it's to much for them, they're just getting walking, then running, interacting and talking(couple words) down pat, they don't need the extra stress on them then.

She will hold it in until we put her in a pullup for sleeping (not night-trained which does not mean she's not potty trained - 2 totally different things).

So a kiddo is PTed when he/she knows when to go and can do all the potty stuff pretty much on their own, but it is not dependent on being dry at night.
I posted this 6 weeks ago, and I am proud to say that DD1 who is 3y5m is FULLY trained! She does everything she needs to on the potty, cleans up after herself, but sometimes needs me to button her jeans. We bought her a taller stool so she can get on the potty and wash her hands by herself. She is also dry during naps (if she takes one) but not at night. It is so nice to have one in diapers.

For my DD1, potty-trained was wearing panties everywhere and accidents very occasionally (1-2 month). That was at 22-23 months.
I agree with the posters who say that night and day are different too. My under-2-day-trained-daughter did not Night train until recently, after she turned 5. She is a very deep sleeper and just would not wake up to go until quite recently.

DD2 is 23 months now and nowhere close to being trained. She thinks the potty is fun to sit on, and has peed once (wearing her sisters panties and peeing through her clothes because she sat and peed but didn't take anything off!) but that is about it. Maybe in a few months....... we'll see
