Default Potty training for boys UGH!

I need to get around to potty training my son but he doesn't tell me when he feels like he needs to go he just pees on the floor or worse. I can put him on the potty a million times a day but he still will have accidents. This is my first child potty training. How long did it take you to get it down and what did you try.

I'm in the same boat. Right now it's big boy pants all the time no easy-ups except bed time. If he messes himself he has to clean it up. He will go potty at school but not here at home. And yes I encourage him to go have the charts the whole nine yards. But he is really hating this clean up stuff so I'm hoping it's just a matter of time. Hope you find success soon!
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.

My son was like 3 days from turning 3 and said he wanted to use the big potty...had a few accidents at night those first 2 weeks and that was it. Just the week before I took him to the store and let him pick his own potty. I tried and tried before that but until he was ready he was having nothing to do with it.

    I feel your pain.
My ds started at a little over 2 1/2 years with big boy pants during the day. It was awful. He begged for "baby diapers." I forget how long this torture lasted, but I relented and went back to diapers because we were going to be traveling and then he started pre-school.
We re-started when he was just over 3 yo. Lots of turmoil, but not as bad as before. Then, all of a sudden, it was though a switch clicked in his brain. He still had accidents, but they were true accidents -- like he was so involved in doing something he didn't realize he had to go. By age 3 1/2 he wasn't even wearing pull-ups at night.
I know it's sooo frustrating for you now, but, trust me, it will get better. He won't be wearing diapers to kindergarten.

I just let mine dictate when he was ready to potty train. Anytime daddy went, we had him go in there and try with daddy, but we never pushed it. One day he said he was ready to potty like a big boy and we did our thing, made a HUGE deal of how he was such a big boy...even did the I went potty dance a few times and in a couple of weeks, we had it down and no more accidents. No muss, no fuss.

Does he have any kind of aversion to the potty? My youngest bro did. We didn't realize that when we put him on the potty to "try" and he would cry and throw a fit, it was because he was scared of it. He never said he was scared, so we just kept pushing at it. Finally, when he started peeing in it standing up we realized he was scared 'cause he would stand as far away from it as he could... often missing. He still won't (at the age of 10) sit on the toilet to go #2...he just hovers over it. Needless to say that is not conducive to cleaning up after, so he is also the "stinky kid".

Huggies use to have a free DVD on potty training. I sent for it for my neighbors grandson that was almost 4. It use to be on their site. I did not see the video but she said it helped. I had two small sons several years ago. I know how frustrating it is. 1st son potty trained almost three. 2nd son potty trained at 2. Good luck. Be patient they will get potty trained in due time.
