HELP It's a boy and mommy is new at this..

Hi everyone, my neice is due in a couple of months and she is wanting to learn all about couponing. I can teach her lots but I don't have any babies at home and I live about 4 hours away so I thought mabye this forum could help steer us in the right direction.

I will keep a look out on the deals out there but I thought maybe someone already knows something that isn't posted here? She lives near Conroe, TX so if anyone has any deals out her way that would be fantastic. Thanks in advance for all your help here. This is her message to me below.

Hey, I have compiled a list of the things I am still going to get. I will try and keep and eye out for coupons on these.

    Burp Cloths
    Receiving Blankets
    Baby Powder
Baby Monitor ( Don't know what kind)
    Diaper Genie 2 Refills
    Vaseline
    Boudreaux's Butt Paste
    Socks
    Changing Table Pad Cover
    Bottles(Playtex Ventaire)
    Breast Pads
    Bottle Brush
    Pacifiers
    Thermometer
Nipples (For the bottles I already have)
    Nursing Bra
    Take Home Outfit

Figured I would include everything. Not sure if I can find a coupon for nursing bras, but I put it down anyhow. I am going to try and look online at some of the different websites and search for some. Talk at ya soon. Sarah

    We love you Sarah

If you can find an Amazon baby 10.00 code, you can use them towards some of these things. I bought a three pack of the playtex ventaire bottles for like 2 or 3 dollars.

Also, Target puts out baby coupons you can combine with manufacturer coupons to make cheap (sometimes free) baby powder, vaseline, or baby wash.

Did she sign up for Target baby registry? Nobody has to buy from there, but she needs to sign up and put something on it. She will get mailers with baby coupons. Also, I got a free bag with some coupons and little goodies when I signed up in late 2009. You have to ask for it.

I have heard about those codes but I don't know how to use them. Is there a place you could refer me to learn about them? Sounds like those would be fantastic and in what places do you find those codes? Thanks again.

They're in Parenting or Parents magazine or you could become a trader in training and try and trade for them. I know a certain auction site also has them up but haven't checked the prices for them.

You just put the code is as a promo code when you go to check out when it asks what kind of payment you want to use. Lots of people are using them on diapers but I used them on socks, pants, onesies, and even bottles.

There are several threads on these here, here, and here at the very least.

To help her save money, I would skip the diaper genie and just use plastic bags from the grocery store. It always seemed like a waste to me when I have to empty my trash every day anyways, so diapers never sit for long. What about checking out other brands of diaper cream? Recently I was able to get Desitin for free at Rite Aid, but I barely ever see deals on Bourdeaux's brand.

A while back I was able to get a whole bunch of the trial size packets of Budreax's for free from either Target or CVS (too long ago to remember for sure). There were $1 coupons and worked on the trial/travel size packets that were .99 in the travel items section. Haven't actually been hard core couponing in a while so I don't know if they still put those coupons out ever. You could try contacting the manufacturer though..and other manufacturers too.

I also just posted here in "In the Family Way" about some good money saving benefits of signing up with Amazon Mom.

    Good luck

The Gerber clothing website has printables that should work on the receiving blankets. I don't know if they'd work on the Gerber burp cloths but I would think receiving blankets are considered bedding. And if you buy the decorative Gerber socks, they'd work with the $5 off $25 coupon as well. Also, you could try sending them an email and see if they'll send you some coupons. There is also a printable on the Playtex Baby facebook page good off bottles and nipples. The Playtex nipples generally run around $3.XX for a 2 pack at Target and occasionally go on sale. Login | Facebook

I think in regards to clothing, that your niece should definitely try to scour the clearance racks at Kohls, TJ Maxx, Ross, and Marshalls. Also, Macys has great sales and clearance racks, as does JC Penney. I also shop at seasonal consignment sales like Just Between Friends (JBF). They have a website so your nieces could find out where the closest JBF sale is.

Definitely use the Amazon codes (Baby Talk magazine also has them and these magazines are complimentary at Babies R Us). I picked up a copy today and got a $10 off code. As far as diaper rash cream, I never used it and my babies never got diaper rash. Instead, I used a thin layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor. Our pediatrician recommended it. Worked beautifully and could be used for so many other things, so I saved money in the long run. Cloth diapers make great burp cloths and can be used for cleanign after bay no longer needs them. They also tend to last longer through many washes than regular burp cloths.
