Default Did you register for your baby shower?

My baby shower is October 10th and I have not registered anywhere and don't plan on it. People keep asking where I'm registered and I just tell them I'm not picky and need pretty much anything. From the looks I'm getting, I'm starting to think it's not "normal" to not register these days.

But here's the thing- this is my 3rd child, third boy. I don't have anything from my other boys because we moved across the country when our youngest was 15 months and it was more reasonable to sell/ give away all the baby stuff than to move it. Because it's the third time around, I'm really not picky cause I've been there, done that and I really will appreciate anything I get at the shower. I registered both other times and people didn't use it "correctly"... like they didn't let the cashier know to mark it as purchased on the registry so I got 2 or 3 of several things. And with my first, I did a Winnie the Pooh nursery theme... only cause the bedding I liked happened to be ooh, not cause I love Pooh or anything. So when people caught on that I had Pooh stuff on the registry, that's literally all they bought. They saw Pooh sheets and bought Pooh diaper bag, clothes, and bathtub instead. I was sick of Pooh before the baby was even born. So this time I really just want to be surprised with a variety of whatever I get.

Am I really all the weird? lol

No, you're not weird, well at least no more weird than me (not saying much lol) I didn't have a shower for DS#3 and apparently, to some, that was a horrific crime… I say to each their own, but nooooo…. Everyone else wants it 'their' way….. Silly me...

I don't think it's weird; it's just that everyone registers so they ask. Many people that DO register get upset if they get items NOT on their registry, so it's very reasonable to ask if you're registered, KWIM?

But it would be fun to just say, "I'm not registered anywhere, so I'm looking forward to getting surprised!" However, just be ready for them to tell you, "OK, but what do you need?" anyway. That was why I finally registered with the third. I got tired of people cornering me into telling them what I didn't have; people really want direction!

Well, I don't mind to tell people what I need. There are certain things I'm hoping to get- hooded towels, bibs, sleepers that zip, etc... But I don't care what brand, color, theme, etc... So I've just been suggesting a couple of different things to each person. Not a big deal to me. lol

Go register at Target but don't tell anyone. Heck just register for one thing...reason being...they are more likely to send you baby coupons if your register....

    I second this!

    Also,

Check around... sometimes Target has q's for a free gift card when you start a baby registry!

With my first, I registered, but only got a few things off my registry- mostly I got clothes and diapers. With my second (both boys) I didn't have a shower planned, and didn't register. Then I got a surprise shower! With lots of diapers, wipes and clothes. Both times it worked out well because I didn't have to buy clothes or diapers for almost 6 months.

I didn't register for my second and didn't want another baby shower. I had most everything I needed already. My close family and friends still got me diapers and some baby girl clothes since my first was a boy.

I feel like you are darned if you do, and darned if you don't. I was not planning on registering, but had bunches of people ask where was I registered. Because we had so many people ask, we went and registered. But when people gave gifts, they just did what they wanted (usually outfits) anyway. We did get a few things off our registeries.

What we did, and this may not be "proper," is that we took back several of the what seemed like hundreds of outfits in 0-3 (becuase really no one needs that many 0-3 outfits) and had the $ put on a gift card and then used the gift card to get the things we were needing. I felt bad doing this, but I needed other things other than clothes.
