Why don't you make your own "generic registry". If your savvy enough to make a website, you could direct ppl there. That way you can say...

    (5) onsies
    (4) hooded towels
    (8) bibs

etc etc....then ppl at least have "something" when you say ur noit registered

Because we had so many people ask, we went and registered. But when people gave gifts, they just did what they wanted (usually outfits) anyway. We did get a few things off our registeries.

What we did, and this may not be "proper," is that we took back several of the what seemed like hundreds of outfits in 0-3 (becuase really no one needs that many 0-3 outfits) and had the $ put on a gift card and then used the gift card to get the things we were needing. I felt bad doing this, but I needed other things other than clothes.

I did that too- plus everyone I know gave me blankets. I live in TX, we don't even USE blankets! Other than 2-3 swaddlers, and one for the floor for playtime, everything else went back to the store along with extra outfits and diaper bags.

Some were nice enough to include gift cards too, so when I give shower gifts, I do a basket (diapers and bath stuff) and a gift card for the place they are registered, especially if I can't afford to spend $50 on someone!

I don't think it is weird at all for you not to register. Really, I think it is bad ediquite to register, if you have already had kids.

There's nothing wrong with this IMO - it's like returning any other gift you don't need. I always try to buy diapers (or clothes, if that's requested) in bigger sizes. Not a lot of people seem to think ahead when baby is in 6-9 month clothes and naked :).

no way...you're not weird at all. My mom blew a gasket when I told her that I really didn't do a registry for baby number 2 and made me do a "proper" one. I had one done for the reason someone said in a pp...I wanted coupons from babies r us and target lol. But there was pretty much nothing on it. Since we weren't having a "shower" shower but more of a welcome to the world party(we had it after she was born), I didn't really want a bunch of gifts that we didn't need.

I still got calls from family asking what I really wanted. I told them onesies, wipes, diapers, and bibs. That's truly all we needed. What did we get? Lots of outfits and 2 things from the long registry my mom made me do. Go figure. I still have some of the outfits saved and put away with the tags on. If she ends up growing a bit fast and can't fit a few, I can always take them back, again like someone said in a pp.
