Adopting?

Just curious if any one on here has adopted. My husband asked when we got married if we could adopt instead of having our own kids. Fine by me!

I'm starting to get the mommy bug. Hopefully in the next 1-2 years, we would like to adopt a kiddo aged 3-6. Or siblings. Just curious to hear ya'lls stories.

Nice! :) We have to go through an adoption agency since my husband works as a case aide for CPS.. but def' want to foster to adopt some kiddos here.

We adopted our 2 kiddos as infants from an agency.

We have done foster care for about 10 yrs. We were all set to adopt our 5 yr old foster daughter(she has been with us 4.5 yrs), But her mom recently pulled herself back together and now we are sending her home around Christmas :( I am glad her mother turned her life around though.

Whatever agency we use, I want a closed adoption where parental rights have been severed. But I can understand your happiness for the mom.

We are adopting internationally! Going to China Oct 19th to get our daughter. Parental rights were one of the reasons I wanted to go internationally! Feed the Mommy bug info and it grows!

I understand the desire to have a closed adoption. I ask that you research open just to make sure. Open doesn't mean that you must visit/see each other monthly, or call or maintain frequent contact. It's what you decide between you. We have an open adoption and mail pictures and an update monthly. If you'd like more details, you can PM me.

We have 2 girls adopted from Russia and one bio boy. BTW, when you adopt them they are "your own" and you will love them like you never imagined you could love a child.

OP stated that she was starting to get the Mommy Bug. When you are adopting - you need more info than birth children IMHO (I have done both) and when you get more info, the more of the Mommy Bug you get - it grows!
