It won't affect his brain development. But that flat spot will always be there. It was an easy choice for us...because that flat spot had pulled my son's ears so skiwampish.
I wouldn't wait to be seen though. You only have a few months left to do it. Make the appointment with the plastic surgeon (which your insurance should pay for) and get his take on it. It typically takes a few weeks to get in anyways. You can always change your mind then...but if you wait to long and get the helmet right before his head is going to stop growing it won't be that helpful.

My son is 5.5 months and his "flat side" is only noticeable from the back. It was MUCH more noticeable before, but as he's gotten older, started sitting up, spending more time on his tummy and using his exersaucer it has improved sooo much! My dr said we have nothing to worry about as it is correcting itself.
All that to say that if you think it can correct itself then skip the helmet unless your doc is absolutely adamant that it needs done. But I personally think with some more time spent upright it will get better![]()
