Default HELP! my 7 yo has acne

DD who is 7 has developed acne on her cheeks, nose and chin. I am putting make up on my 7 yo b/c she needs it! She has started washing her face with the neutrogena bar (not the acne one just the reg) first thing in the morning and at bed time. Any suggestions? before i take her to the DR. and have to spend $$. I still haven't found a Q for that darn place!

I would take her to the doctor - it sounds like a hormonal issue and 7 is a bit young for that although not unheard of. If that's the case she could get her period soon too.

I just bought my daughter a Zeno and she is very happy with it but I don't see that much of a change myself. But she is the one with her face 3 inches from the mirror . . .

I also bought a product online on Amazon a couple of weeks ago and that daughter and my oldest have been using it, love it and say it really helps but again, not sure it would be good for someone so young.

pHisoderm pH Anti-Blemish Gel Facial Wash, pH Balanced, 6 fl oz (177 ml) (Pack of 4) $19.16

Amazon.com: pHisoderm pH Anti-Blemish Gel Facial Wash, pH Balanced, 6 fl oz (177 ml) (Pack of 4): Beauty

I'd probably consider using cetaphil face wash....walmart sells it generic (it will be cheaper than using a coupon most of the time).

I think I would actually start with the ped....maybe consider having some testing done...and to be honest...at her age...i'd want the ped to check it out too..because sometimes mrsa looks like pimples.

She's a little young, but it is not unheard of, so I wouldn't panic or assume some bad disease. I personally would suggest foregoing the make up though. I know the acne may be embarrassing, but the make up could be making it worse. The important thing is to keep her face clean, gently washing, not scrubbing (scrubbing makes it worse too) - have her wash before bed and when she wakes up. Help her break any habits where she touches her face a lot and encourage a lot of hand washing. Keep her hair out of her face also. Finally, picking the right cleanser is like anything else, you have to try one, use it for a few weeks and see if there is any improvement. If not, try another. People respond to different things, so it is a crap shoot. Good luck at the Dr. - hopefully they can recommend something to get you started!

Are you sure it's acne and not rosasea or a skin disorder?

I've had rosacea since I was about 9 (I'm 31), and it sucks, but it's manageable. At first, my mom thought I had acne too.

Some skin disorders look like pimples, but those little pustules are caused by a bacteria or a skin disease. If the Doc gives you the run around, ask for a referral to the dermatologist. Derms are skin disease specialists.

Do any of the kids in her class have a similar issue?

I would take her to the Dr first also....

I just saw on tv the other night where I think it was a 10 month old was having a period but I did not get to see the whole part on that. And I had a friend in grade school that started hers at 10 years old.

I had some skin issues when I was a tween and the Dr. suggested Purpose face wash (can get at grocery store). It really helped and was very mild. Also, does she use a moisturizer? I know that making sure the skin is properly moisturized can help clear up skin issues.

Sorry! Didn't mean to alarm.

I didn't think of this earlier but you might get more specific and refined answers going to a dermatologist, but being checked by the pedi is still good, especially if it's been that long.

We have used this before and I'm pretty sure this is what cori_n_wes_mom meant. If not, I apologize.
