Default Baby Shower Gift

Newbie here...I figured this is the place to post this question. I am wanting to get my expecting friend a personal care small travel bag with all the personal items she will need when she goes to have the baby. It has been years since I had mine but I remember being so unprepared when it came to me. The baby was set but I was miserable in the hospital. Any money saving ideas are appreciated and welcomed!

Thanks!

Maybe a small bodywash and scrubber/loofah and possibly some nice comfy slippers or flip flops depending on the season. Maybe even a nice cooshy towel. I brought all my own stuff except a towel and the hospital ones were pretty tiny. Good luck. I am sure she will enjoy whatever you send. Oh and maybe some snacks... in case the hospital food is blech.

Defiantly snacks!!! Or even a homemade meal. Sometimes snack just dont cut it lol. Giving birth is very very draining. Any shower related travel size items are good. The ones the hospital provide are terrible. Some fluffy socks and/or slippers. Toothpaste!!!!!! Lol.

This has nothing to do with a travel bag, but is a good gift idea!

One of the best gifts that I got was when someone made my family dinner and brought it over during those first two weeks. It was the best thing to know that I didn't have to think about getting that ready and could just sit down and eat. If you are really wanting to go above and beyond you could do a Meal day and provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I would do something like banana bread, muffins, or coffee cake for breakfast. For lunch you could get some sandwich stuff with "fancy rolls," and chips and a green salad, and for dinner a nicer meal like a casserole or something. I would have LOVED if someone would have done something like that for me.

You can be cost effective with this too and use stuff from your stockpile for the majority of it!

Don't forget the pads! lol I know it seems funny, but with my first I had to get a friend to run out to buy some. I just couldn't stand the diaper like "pad" the hospital uses, they're nearly 3x the size of a normal pad! With my second I took a box of 24, I used a little over half the box in 2 days but I would much rather change a little more often than wear one of those diapers!

Use your sample bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, ect. And a nice pair of house shoes to complete the gift, maybe even a nice sized makeup bag to put it all in.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I wish I could make her dinner for a few nights but I live in Houston and she lives in Pittsburgh. I have most of those things in my stock pile too!
