Storytime at Library

What age did your LO start to go to storytime at the library? I'm trying to decide if my LO is too young (4 months). Enrollment is tomorrow, so I need to make up my mind! Thanks for your input!

I would go and now looking back I wish I would have started taking DS at that age. Now that he's older and barely sits for storytime/music at playgroup I don't have the guts to take him and DD to the library storytime.

The younger the better, IMO :)

I think it depends on which age they are gearing the storytime to. Some libraries have things geared toward the baby crowd and others pick pretty long stories. Maybe you should sit in one and see what kind of books they pick. If they are on the longer side, then I would say closer to 2.5 to 3.

The story time at our library has a program for 2-3 year olds that DD1 has been going to since a month after her 2nd birthday. I also bring along DD2 who was 8 months at the time (15 months now). I think she was (and still is) too young for it. My 2 year old can barely sit through the 1/2 hour story time.

I started to bring my little ones when they were about 4-5 months. They have a program called Babygarten at the library which is for younger ones. They now go to regular story time.

At least 2 years old in my opinion. I started taking my DS at age 2 and he was still too young to sit through - he didn't really get it until he was 3.

Thanks ladies for all of your responses. After reading several of the posts above I decided to call and see if they had an infant program or if this was a general, all age story time. They have 3 different programs, an infant, toddler, and small child that are 20 minutes each. It sounds like a story is read and that they may sing some songs, etc. If the LO is up from his nap or not needing to nap (trying hard to get him on a nap schedule), and doesn't need to eat-we are going to check it out!
