Default Postpartum hair loss

I've hit the 4 month postpartum hair loss experience recently and was wondering how long this usually lasts. With the amount of hair it feels like I'm losing each day-I need to know if there is light at the end of the tunnel or if I need to invest in a good wig!

As always, thanks in advance ladies for your input-I truly appreciate it!

I can't remember exactly but maybe 1-2 months of hair loss?! Probably depends on the level of hormones in your body.

It really does seem like a lot!!! Our drains always got clogged at that time period.

I weaned my daughter after breastfeeding for a year and my hair has finally stopped falling out. It was getting really annoying- we have two dogs and I swear there was as much human hair as dog hair on the ground!

My DD will be 2 in October, and my hair is just coming back to normal. I had some medical issues with pregnancy that contributed to some extra bad hair loss.

I just hit that as well! I had really long thick hair and finally after 2 weeks of finding "hairballs" all over the house, I went to get it cut chin length. The big tattooed guy who cut my hair asked why I was having it done, and I said "I had a baby 3 months ago..." and he finished with, "And your hair is falling out! Yeah, that happened to my wife. I cut her hair for her!" He said I'd notice a big difference after cutting it, and I do. It still falls out, but it's not nearly as bad. I can usually just brush it really well twice a day and get it all out then.

With DS, it lasted about 4 months, and DD about 6.

I have crazy thick hair, so I had more to lose. There were some monster hairballs in the bathroom, though.

My son is 7.5 months and I am still shedding like crazy. I remember that it took until about 12 months for it to stop shedding after I had my daughter (I breastfed her until 15 months).

Hair loss can also be caused by thyroid problems and anemia so if it persists and you are concerned you could mention it to your healthcare provider.

Went through massive "shedding" too, plus scabbing. Was so freaked out I went to the Dermatologist....turned out to be Sebhorreic Dermatitis, treatable with medicated shampoo. I'm fine now, but boy was that scary and embarrassing!
