Pregnant with low HCG?

Hi all. DH and I have been trying to conceive since mid April. We actually succeeded immediately but resulted in a chemical pregnancy.

This month has been hectic but yesterday, while shopping no less, I realized the date and that I expected my period on the 7th. Grabbed a dollar store and it was positive.

Due to the chemical pregnancy, I called the dr. office immediately, they had me come in yesterday afternoon for a blood test. Nurse called me this afternoon saying that they need me to do it again tomorrow so that they can compare numbers. That I knew, no biggie. What made me nervous was that she said it was positive but my hcg was low. It's 80.

I'm so paranoid that I can't seem to get excited yet. If what the nurse said was'nt enough, I've been nervous about the cramping. nothing major, very mild. Almost like the abdominal and back cramps you get when your period is on its way.

I'm going in tomorrow morning for the 2nd test. it was'nt ordered "stat" so I don't expect the results til Monday and I have an actual appt. with the doctor Monday afternoon. It will be the LONGEST weekend EVER.

Anyone have any stories, advice, anything they can share? it would be greatly appreciated.

No stories...just hugs and well wishes. From what I do know, it isn't unusual though for the level to be that low this early in pregnancy. Hang in there.

I will be praying for you. I know it is true the levels of HCG can be very faint when you are first pregnant as that is what happened with my 2nd child.

As long as your HCG goes up by at least 67%, you should be fine. HCG level number is not an indicator of a "good" or "bad" pregnancy. Mild cramps are also common. Sending prayers your way and HUGS!

Also, please do not search internet all over for HCG level stories. By the time you are done with it, you will have scared yourself so much you might not be able to sleep. No stress for you!

Just remember - there's a big range in numbers that are considered normal. Just because your on the low end doesn't mean its a bad sign. I know its hard - but try to RELAX!! :) Take some warm baths and think happy thoughts. Also- don't feel bad about bugging your dr's office. They know your stressed, so ask them if there is anyway they can stat it for you.

My hcg level was low too. My dr. actually told me to expect a miscarriage! So we did tests a few times and the levels slowly went from 17, to 79 to 296....and now I'm 12 weeks pregnant and perfectly fine! My due date is just a week later than it technically should be based on LMP and conception date. Hope that helps!

Something I'm not sure of. They keep saying that i'm like 5-51/2 weeks. So i guess 80 is low for that time frame. that being said, they came up with that based on the first day of my last period.

Because we had been trying, i documented everything. We counted 14 days forward and actively started trying on the 20th so....if i conceived during that time, I'm only 3 weeks or so and would'nt that explain the 80 hcg level better?

ugh, i'm confusing myself, can anyone explain this to me? lol

It will be fine.. they can give you shotd to up your HCG if they need to later on to keep your little one from comming to early. Just hang in there and listen to the Dr.s and take it easy, do work to hard and take it easy on stuff that stresses you out.

My body dont do well prego either..two boys in their teens and twins G/B that are 3 that was a long 7.5 months I tell you but take it from me there is a ton of stuff that can be done to help your baby get here just fine and even more onice it gets here. I spent alot of time in the hospital the whole month of aug being that I had so many different things going on that they need to take care of me every day for. MY point is dont think the worst for you have no ideal what the Dr's can do now days to help you carry your little one even if your body says no.
