Default Juice Question

Well, DD is over 5 month old, and we are thinking about starting veggies, fruits and juices at 6 months. The question is - did you buy those little Gerber bottles or did you buy regular 100% juice with no sugar added to it? TIA

Default Re: Juice Question

I have yet to give my DD any juice & she is 10 mos old. She eats all kinds of solids but only drinks water. They don't actually need the juice but if you want to give it to her you're supposed to dilute it 1/2 and 1/2 with water & no more than 4oz of juice per day. What type you buy I guess just depends on what fits you best. It would be more economical to buy a good, natural nothing added juice & give that to the baby. The little bottles are so overpriced & a lot of them have added stuff.... I guess all that was more info than you asked for... LOL!

Default Re: Juice Question

No, we never bought juice. I was one of those*anal* 1st time moms who only gave milk or water =D

Even now, juice is more of a treat, even then I dilute it 50% water, 50% juice. I will admit though that I am bit more lax though because if DS and something and DD wants it, she too, gets it :)

No juice for my 14 month old.. except when he was contipated as a smaller baby. :) but when he does start getting it as a treat, i'll get 100% juice and dilute 1/2 and 1/2. :)

For my toddler I bought the big Juicy Juice bottles, then froze them into cubes. Add them to the sippy cup with some water, and they are great for a hot day. This was an occasional treat though.

Default Re: Juice Question

My son will be 1 on the 27th of this month. He doesn't get juice at all. I'm a huge water drinker, so he just kinda followed my lead. There really is no nutritional reason to give it to them, so I never did

I don't know how old he was started on it, but when I met him (at 2 1/2) my SS was so well trained that he would ask for "juice and water." It was cute!

Default Re: Juice Question

^That's what my DD (2.5) does! Always 1/3 juice ad 2/3 water. She does get Juicy Juice juice boxes from time to time (the smaller toddler size ones). DD2 who is 15 months doesn't like anything but soy milk.

With DD1, she got very diluted juice around 9 months. I am of the mindset that juice is not needed nutritionally, so she doesn't have too much. I started DD2 around the same age, but like I said, she just doesn't care for it.

I bought 100% juice to give to them. The little Gerber bottles are so expensive!
