I would have enough clothes for about 3-4 changes per day for 2 weeks. With a new born you don't want to have to worry about washing!

^That is A LOT of clothes! That is 42-56 individual outfits. Babies typically grow out of sizes so fast that I think expecting to have enough clothes for 2 weeks with an infant is not feasible. I guess I don't think of laundry as overwhelming or unreasonable. In fact waiting 2 weeks to do laundry is overwhelming to me!

OP, if you have 4 kids already, do you not do laundry for 2 weeks? My girls have a lot of clothes, but we do it every week. My personal opinion is to have enough clothes for 3 outfits (pajamas, clothes, and a backup) a day for 5 days for an infant. A baby may wear 0-3 months for a month, so if you buy enough for 2 weeks worth, he/she will wear each outfit twice, which seems wasteful to me.

I with whoever posted above: snaps in the middle of the night suck. I only used a handful of snap pj's before I stopped using them completely. I'd wake up the next AM and it looked like a drunk person (or a seriously sleep deprived mama) had snapped them up - they'd be all crooked and not good, LOL.

    I say, stick with zippers!!

Gerber makes zippered versions with the feet. Gerber is TIGHT though so it actually fit my kids at the newborn sizes.

Summer or not, I have onesies with feet and sleeves. Really, how much do you go out with the baby and stay outside. Most....none. And the is always running, it is 102 out right now. So it is either cold outside or inside.

I had my 5th a year ago and the only time we were outside was going to sports events or not.

But, I'm a bad mama. The kid has to be soaked in spit up, drool, food for me to change them. I can't remember but a few times I changed their clothes more then once a day and that is when I changed the 4th to Huggies for a couple days.

I do remember the beginning of the last 2 babies lives we sometimes would go 2-3 days without changing the poor things (clothes, not diapers, of course we changed diapers). It would just slip our minds during that sleep deprived state.

You probably have enough from the last kids.

I wouldn't get more then 14 outfits 0-3. I'd wait to buy nb until the baby comes out. My #1 son, he didn't fit nb the day he was born 5 days late, he was too big, not heavy (only 8 lbs. 4. oz.) just long. In contrast my #4 born on time. Fit premie diapers/clothes till she was 1 1/2 months, fit size 2 diapers till she was 14 months in size 3-6 at the time too.

It is so fun to buy clothes before they are born, even when you have clothes from previous kids up there, just if nothing else to spruce them up.

Keep receipts if you still fill compelled to go, attach them to the hangers of the outfit(s) you bought.

Have fun, 5 is no harder then 4 except.....you no longer have 1 hand for each kid (2 parents), crossing the street.

I like onesies. She has about 15 newborn onesies and problably like 5 or 6 t-shirts. Actual outfits, not many...maybe 4 or 5. And I'm putting some 0-3 month items on her, but not many. They are huge still! We don't really go that many places though and because it is, she wears a onesie and socks and then I that's close to it! And make sure that you have a bunch of blankets. We have a few burp cloths, but we use the receiving blankets more than actual cloths for burping.

Your supposed to dress babies in clothes? LOL

I would stick with 2 outfits a day combo onesies with some sleepers more sleepers if it is cool when you are due more onesies if it is warm.

Since this is number 5 you might be able to do some guessing on baby size if your kids tended to run small or big at birth and plan accordingly. Newborn size always fit my kids for a while...my kids were always right on the sizes for clothes. If it was 0-3 months...then they wore them till they were 3 months. Except for my twins who were smaller and needed a few premie outfits to keep them from swimming in their clothes (they are now almost 6 and still wear 4-5T)

As far as dresses go...that is going to depend on how often you want to dress her up! I used to love dressing up my little girls in dresses with hair bows and ruffly diaper covers...and did so at least once a week for church. So a 5 or 6 dresses is not unreasonable if you got someplace to go where you want her dolled up.

I had a girl in May and a boy in December, and I ended up using the same type clothing items on both of them for the first 4 months= onesies and zip-up sleepers. Iam also a huge fan of the gerber gowns and size 0-6 months lasted both my kids until 4 months.
My babes have luckily not had any spitting up issues and I would only change their clothes when they had a diaper blow-out. I am not obsessed with keeping them super clean, they are babies after all!
I do laundry once a week and most weeks I will have to wash 9 or 10 outifts of DS 7 months, along with 7 pairs of pajamas. It was the same when he was a newborn.
I would not recommend purchasing NB size clothing as they grow so fast. But, like I said, I am not particularly concerned with how the babe looks as long as he is warm and comfortable.
