We waited until the first big ultrasound. I believe it was at 18 weeks. However, we do have a special situation. DH's family is crazy when it comes to kids. Especially 2 of his sisters. You literally have to tell them to back off. They want to play mommies a little too much for my taste. So, we waited a long time to tell and when we did, it was accompanied with "Please do not call us every day to see how we are doing and please do not bother us with questions about the baby." It is that bad... After DD was born, one of his sisters decided it was her place to take care of MY baby... That flew with me like a ton of bricks. She even got offended when we did not let her bathe DD. She has had her 3 kids. This is MY experience!!! I am not letting anyone bathe my baby, especially the first time!!!

Plus once everybody knows, you start getting a lot of advice. While some of it is great, most of it will make you want to puke even more Beware!

My husband's family is the same way-when we are around them, I feel like they are holding my baby hostage. They want to do everything, which for some stuff like some feedings, diaper changes, even a bath every now and again, I am fine with-because I get a little break. They want to do it all, even try to keep soothing him when it's obvious, it's a "I need my mommy," cry. I find it upsetting and go over and have to pry him out of their hands. I know they mean well-but it honestly stresses me out to be around them with my little one. My husband and I have started saying, "ok, give me back my baby, I'm needing a little baby fix," they sometimes get it when we say this and will back off for a little while.

Don't get me wrong-I love having involved grandparents, but when they take over like that and make you feel like you can't go hold your own baby-that's just too much in my book.

We have kind of a weird situation. I'm 26 and my husband is 30. We've been married a year and a half (2 yrs in Feb 2011). He asked me if we could adopt instead of having a baby. I'm fine with that. Alot of people have been asking us about baby makin'.. We decided to go ahead and tell everyone we are adopting. My mom was concerned at first, but everyone knows now. Takes a lot of pressure off. I'm glad we decided early in the marriage and told everyone for our and their peace. :)

We told our family & friends a few days after we found out (multiple pregnancy test later LOL) I was about 5 weeks. Those who were around us at all were already questioning if I was because I had bad morning sickness (or ALL day sickness is more like it). Congrats on the pregnancy!

We found out at 3 weeks and we told our parents a few days after on Feb 14th (her dad's birthday!)

I then told the rest of my family including grandparents and close friends on April 1st (fools day!)

My cousin who is expecting 2 days before us also chose April 1st as the main family announcment, needless to say the grandmother we share was overwhelmed, her first 2 great grandbabys all at the same time!

For our boys they were all planned so when we found out we shared the news right away. Back in April of this year I found our I was pregnant which wasn't planned and I felt aqward only because our previous babies were planned but dh and I were super happy. I always said if its gonna be a girl it will have to be unplanned (kidding ofcourse)
We shared our news with Our boys really soon after we knew and our parents aswell.
Only 2 weeks after to mis carry. I wish for the sake of not having to tell my boys the bad news I wish I would have waited a little longer. All though the support from my mom with everything I was going through was nice. As with my Dh's mom and Dad neither have said anything about it I know it it a touchy subject and maybe they just don't want to bring it up.
