Default What is the best brand backpack your kids have had?

DD starts Kindergarten next month. There are so many cute backpacks out there. I would really like to know what backpacks you have bought for your kids and which ones have held up great and which ones have been garbage. I'm not opposed to spending good money on a backpack, but do not want to spend a lot of money on one that will fall apart. TIA!

I have 4 kids, my oldest 3 are in high school and I have spent tons of money on backpacks from Old Navy, Walmart, and Dollar Stores...I don't remember all of the brand names, but I do remember that NOT ONE lasted a whole school year. 3 years ago I bought my 3 boys (the youngest 3) backpacks from L.L Bean...I paid to have them monogrammed and with shipping I spent around $130.00. They have been carried Daily since then (during the school year). 2 of them still look brand new, the one that is the roughest is my youngest sons, but he let the dog eat the straps and the front....even after the dog, it is still in usable shape and still looks decent enough to carry. I have NOT had to use it, and I don't remember the exacts of it, but when I bought them they offered a great guarantee on normal wear and tear. My youngest son is going into the 4th grade and I plan on replacing his when he goes into middles school with a larger size, but the other boys look like they will last till the end of their high school career. I'm sure that are decent bags for less money, but for me...there were a great buy and I still consider it money well spent. Hope that it helps.

I love LL Bean. I bought my son a plain blue backpack from LL Bean 3 years ago and it still looks new. I bought my daughter one as well but I bought her a smaller one in kindergarten several years ago (I don't even know why got her a smaller one) so now she needs a bigger one for 3rd grade but hers held up just as well.

So, do you wish you had bought her a bigger one? Should I got with a smaller size or a normal size. My DD is tall, but skinny. I would think the bigger ones would just eat her alive (sizewise, that is).

I am on board with LL Bean. My kids aren't old enough for school yet but I remember my younger brother tore up every backpack he ever owned until my mom bought him one from LL Bean. I think they were around $50 each but they were well worth the money. I used the same backpack all through college and it still looks new.

LL Bean

LL Bean will replace the backpack if the zipper break, it rips or tears ..

my son has had the same one for 6 years ..

i did love the one my son got from Lands End but the zipper broke (not his fault) and they would not replace it ..

my older sons have Underarmor (sp?) backpacks and those are very durable as well .. we purchased those at Dick's Sporting Goods ..

I actually just got an LL Bean catalog today in the mail. I do not see the style of backpack that I ordered for my kids several years ago but they are just the basic backpack and they had 2 sizes. My daughter was small too and i thought the bigger size would overpower her but now I wish i would have gone ahead and ordered her the bigger size. The junior backpack was ok for kindergarten but in 1st grade it barely held all of her stuff. So I would probably go ahead and get her the bigger size if I were you. I think you would get more use out of it.

My kids have Jan Sport. They have a lifetime warranty. If the zipper breaks they will replace it. If not repairable do to normal wear and tear they will send you a new backpack.

I got the kids from Target 75% off. Paid less than $10 about 3 years ago and they still look new.

You could buy a cheap one now and wait for them to go 75% off and put away for Christmas
