Our Library has that kind of stuff too. My kids love story time. Its just too bad they can't go together (because of the age groups).

Some other places that offers "Freebies" for kids/families--

Local public libraries often features kids' programs with speakers, crafts, book clubs, Summer/Holiday programs for school holidays, etc.

Local/national booksellers (i.e. Borders or Barnes & Noble) offers story times, crafts, etc.

Local county Parks & Recreational facilities/community centers offers camps--some are free and others have fees, free musical events, plays, and other fine arts opportunities.

Local orchestra/symphonies offers kids' events (some are free) and performances, churches, or other places where groups are organized.

Check out local farms/home school groups, museums (local, state, or national) for programs, or historical museums.

Also, you can check out your local County Extension Offices for 4-H Clubs for club/community activities, civic groups, Scouts, etc.

Local amateur playhouses, school acting groups, university/college drama clubs, etc.

Local cooking schools offers cooking classes for kids/family classes, Michael's, or other hobby stores/fabric stores for classes, etc.

Local YMCA/Boys & Girls Clubs or other civic groups.

Also, check out your local parenting magazines for your regions. For example, here in N VA and Metro DC/MD areas, we have magazine publications that are FREE at libraries and newstands for kids' activities, etc. Washington Families, Washington Women, and Washington Parents are local magazines that offers lectures, kids' activities, and other family ideas for local places to visit or events.

Also, volunteering in any hospital or other assistance to seniors, volunteering at community gardens, libraries, zoos, etc.

    Hope that helps--
