Default Potty Training

ok, so I super fail!! This is not a power struggle, this is not a power struggle. This is not a power struggle. If I repeat it enough will it be true?

My DD is 3.5 and we're attempting potty training for the umpteenth time.

We've been using various bribery methods, and she loves going to Dollar Tree and picking out a "pee pee present"

So far this week, we're doing great during the day, pee on the potty no problem, but she won't poop on the potty. At night she HAS to wear a diaper because every morning, the diaper is soaked and weight 3 lbs.

I offered to buy her big girl panties - Princess, Dora, Littlest Pet Shop, and she wanted "Race Car Panties" so I am desperate to not buy any more diapers, I bought her some Cars boys briefs, and she did not poop in them or pee on them. But she insists on wearing them backwards because she says "I can't see the car on my butt" and she's got the cutest little wedgie that she's given herself. Exactly why don't underwear makers cross gender lines? All the characters she likes are only printed on boys briefs.. and they are expensive!!

At what point does it get easier?

I am sad to say that I went to Walmart and bought a big pack of whatever cheap generic undies I could find for DS#2, since he wanted the Race Car undies too.

Some of them have all-over print, and some have print on the front too. I don't think it will matter if she wears them backwards, in the grand scheme of things, as long as the job is done, right? It'll get easier.

DS#1 wore diapers or training pants at night and naptime until he was 5.

DS is 3.5, and we haven't gotten past the 'pee on the potty only before a bath' stage. The rest of the time he couldn't care less. The little dude even pooped in the bathtub not too long ago-- tell me that's not a power issue. <sigh>

I think DD will be trained before he is. She's just under 19 months, and runs up to me and says 'I got caca' when she's poopy.

My son was nearly 4 when he was potty trained. We were continually asking him, "Are you ready to pee/poop on the potty?", and up to that point, he just didn't want to. Then one day he decided to do it, and that was that. No peeing at night, virtually no accidents. And no training pants.

I never even tried to potty train my daughter. She spent a few days with her older cousins when she was 2.5, and decided she wanted to use the big potty. Done.

My advice is to stop trying so hard. When she's ready, she'll do it.

I'd like to say I had an answer for you on this one...but my oldest is 4.5 and I swear we are still battling this one. And my next on is about to turn 3 and is so ready and I'm SO NOT ready b/c we have DD that's just 8 weeks old and I don't want to deal with potty training right now...but I've been told if we don't jump at this chance we might be totally screwing our selves over...UGH!!!!

With our oldest DS, I think we might (insert a big MIGHT) be there. We've actually gone over three weeks without an accident. I'm in shock. Then again...with DS he could up and decide he doesn't care and go right back to having accidents all the time. And he HAS to wear a pull up at night. Whereas my second DS has dry pull ups a nighttime now a lot of the time...so who knows?!? I think my second DS will be potty trained at night before my first (has that happened to anyone...and if so...what did you do about it????)

ALl I can say is...I've stared at the mirror and repeated your statements over and over and over and over and over again. I'm hear for you!! And good luck!! Big hugs your way.

Oh and about the gender thing...I totally get that. My second DS loves Dora. So yep...we buy dora easy ups and DH just hates how DS is running around in a pink easy up (insert rolling eyes here!!) It isn't worth the fight...I have too many other things to deal with than whether DS is running around in pink easy ups with Dora or Princesses (he likes tinkerbell...he says "tinkerbella" and says that the princesses pull-ups are like tinkerbella and my mom was here and bought them...I think DH about had an attack...I was hysterical to watch DH when DS ran downstairs to show him his "tinkerbella" pull-ups...I about died) We got it all on video...I can't wait to show that video to DSs 16 year old girlfriend...LOL!!!

My son is 3 and pees on the potty and stays dry at night about 90% of the time. He will not poop on the potty which is fine because I know he'll do it eventually. My only issue is that he poops in his underwear and then tries to clean it up himself. Just imagine walking into the bathroom to see poop smeared everywhere and a trail of poopy foot prints throughout the house. It is really annoying. I keep telling him to let me know when he poops so I can help him clean up but he is so independant that he must do it himself. I keep wondering- if he is so independant why can't he independantly poop on the potty?:shrug7:
