I always make sure I have the following:
slippers
robe
hair dryer
shampoo, deo, toothbrush, bodywash, pouf, toothpaste
the baby's coming home outfit, which is also at my hospital, what they get their picture in
cell phone and charger
pads...they give you some there, but I always make sure I have my own for the ride home
clothes for discharge day
change for vending machine
I wear their gowns and "underwear things" while I'm there...saves on "ruining" my own.
This last time I was only in 24 hours, then I had my dr discharge me. I never take magazines, books or anything like that. Quite honestly when I'm in labor I don't feel like reading and after I've had the baby any "spare" time I have, I spend sleeping. LOL Plus you'll have quite a bit of paperwork to fill out while you're there (birth certificate info and some other forms).
As for what to bring for the baby, nothing really other than what you want him/her to come home in, plus the car seat and maybe a blanket. The hospital supplies the formula and diapers while you're there plus sends some home with you.

I'm going totally off topic here...but with #4 hubby went down to the cafeteria to get something to eat and my dr comes in to check me and decides to break my water. She does that and then I ask for the epi. Usually hubby stands in front of me and holds me when they do it, but he wasn't there. I was so beyond irritated with him. They started *trying* to get the epi in place and he rolls in. LOLHe did get to "help" me for the rest of the time the dr tried to place it. I was ready to strangle someone....anyone....by the time the epi was placed....especially since it only worked on half of me.
I forgot to add in my other post...chapstick was a must.....and the Always Infinity over nights work wonders!![]()
