Well I just found out a couple of weeks ago, that I will be expecting my first child!! I'm so excited and anxious! Right now I am currently 10 wks, and my expected due date is Dec. 29th of this year. Since this is my 1st pregnancy, I'm kind of having difficulty with all the vomitting and I just hate feeling sick everyday. I just need all the advise that I can get, what should I expect during my pregnancy and what should I expect when the baby gets here? I appreciate any advise that I get, thanks!
Eat breakfast and small meals throughout the day. It helps with the nausea. And drink tons of water.
Everyone has their own opinions about pregnancy and motherhood-- decide what you like and stick with it-- don't let anyone try to force "their" way on you.
The layette list at baby stores are ridiculous and you won't need most of what's on there. Pretty or cute clothes are pointless until baby is three months old.
Congratulations! I've had three babies and the advice I can think of right now is to try and do some form of exercise throughout your pregnancy, even just 20 minutes or so of walking in the evenings can be helpful. Read as many books as you can get your hands on about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and baby's first year. Also, sign up for all the classes that are available at the hospital you are delivering at. Most people take the childbirth class, but don't realize there are also classes on infant safety, breastfeeding and other topics. You won't know everything and you won't do everything just as you have learned, but it helps to know what your options are. Knowledge is power!
Also, don't feel guilty for resting when you need to rest (during your pregnancy and after) and eating smoothies for every meal if that is what makes you feel good. Go out to dinner and enjoy these last few quiet months of your life.
Don't go into with too many expectations. Just do the best you can and make decisions based upon what works for you and your SO, not what worked for Jane down the street or your mom 30 years ago. Make friends with a mom who has a kid that will be one about the time your kid is born, that way you can ask about something and the issue is still fresh in their mind. Oh and if you are staying home, find a moms group to join...so wish I had done this.
Congrats!! SLEEP!! SLEEP and SLEEP while you can!! lol
I am a first time mom, and one thing I have passed on to a friend of mine, who just became a first time mom is this:: Just do your best. Not anyone else's best, but yours! Love your baby, hug him, kiss him and take care of him. He (or she) is YOUR child, not your mother's, aunt's or anyone else's. Do what you think is best. Bounce things off of people, but in the end, go with your gut! My son is 9 months old (my, that went fast), and so far, he is still in one piece! If you want to breastfed, then do it, if you don't, then don't. Every baby is different, so no matter what 'handbook' you try to follow......it rarely works. Just do your best! And know that we are all here for you!!!
I was induced, then wound up w/ a cs....my call on that one. So I can't help you on any labor/delivery things. Keep us posted, and join the "I'm pregnant, who else is too?" thead!! TONS of help there!!1

expectations!!! what dose that mean with a baby NOTHING, sorry but everyone of them you will have will all be very different form the last..just know that you will never get any sleep any more...so sleep now..I am not kidding you!!!!!
Be ready with lots of wipes and dipaers...lots and lots when you think you have enough buy more, you can always take them back and get a bigger size if he/she out grows them to fast. when you come home one thing is for sure you will change lots of stinky ones the first few weeks, and Destin needs to be put on like paste to work not very lite for you dont want to waste it, oh and try to get the kind in the purple jar or tube not the other one its not worth the money...
Dont lay him/her down with the bottle, unless you want ear troubles....no passafier they are harder to take away then a bottle is..you need a wipe warmer if you can get one, they are super.....

Congrats! the first is always exciting. The nausea sucks! Try and nibble snacks throughout the day. If it seriously gets bad where you cant stand it dont be afraid to talk to you dr. you can get medication to help with it if it gets super bad! Dont stock up on too many newborn diapers. my son was in em a total of 3 days! I got a few newborn then started stocking size 1's and 2's. Same with the clothes. My daughter was due dec 27th. i had her dec 25th! she had a few warm outfits for when we left the house other then that it was mostly onsies. I breastfed too. its hard the first couple weeks but once you get through that its smooth sailing! I did keep formula on hand just in case. See if you can qualify for wic too. WHen pregnant u can receive milk and stuff. And now with babies they have more like baby food. They didnt have that when my daughter was in that stage. I waited until around 17 weeks or so before i bought much of anything. Id suggest only buying one paci until they are born, i bought like 20 with my son to find out he hates em!
Sleep when they sleep! I always figured ooh theyre sleeping now i can do this and this etc. by the time i was tuckered out and ready for bed guess whose awake and ready to roll!
The first 6 mths are hard! my son had colic. When they scream and scream and scream its ok to walk away . Just to step away and breathe! It can be overwhelming! There are plenty of us that have been there done it all and have plenty of advice to offer! any questions feel free to PM me. :)
