Default Tightness in lower pelvic area?

Okay, me again...I'm all kinds of anxious....

Today, I went to do Easter Bunny stuff at Target around 11am. I'm on modified bedrest, but am allowed to do a little walking. I only go out once or twice a week for an hour or two (usually shopping). The rest of the time, I'm sitting on my butt or laying down.

Anyway, today at Target my lower abdominal/pelvic area (from my belly button down to my nether regions, including my inner groin/thigh area, got REALLY tight. It doesn't hurt per se, but is extremely tight and has not "released".

It feels fine when I'm sitting, but if I get up, it's REALLY tight. There's no contractions, doesn't come and go - just doesn't go.

Any ideas what it could be??

It sounds to me like your body is starting to get ready for labor. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that you are going into labor, it just means that your body is preparing for it. My advice would be to keep calm and to start writing down these occurances and then go from there. You are in the last stretch and most often times, each pregnancy naturally induces a shorter gestation as well as labor time.

From my personal experience and what I can remember from my last pregnancy (I have 4 children), this is what started happening to me and then at 38 weeks, I went into labor with baby #4.

Thank you. I had a scheduled c-section with DD#1 and didn't experience anything like this. I had the round ligament pain and stuff like that - but nothing like this.

I'm like the other poster in the other thread - I wouldn't know what natural labor was if it smacked me between the eyes!!

    LOL!

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions, which is normal. It was probably brought on by the physical exertion of shopping (lol that sounds funny). Try drinking lots of water and resting a little more and monitor baby movements. I agree with ocean brez, I've had personal experience with half a dozen children, so that's what it sounds like.

I agree. It's Braxton Hicks. Take it easy.

I thought Braxton Hicks come and go? My DH says I'm just being a worry wort...but hey, when you've spent as much money as we have going through all the IVF treatments - I am probably a bit more obsessed than the "average" bear....

Still tight this morning, but not quite as bad.

I will keep an eye out on the movement.

    Thanks guys!

DD is 35 weeks and has had this going on for the last 3 weeks. In her case not Braxton Hicks true contractions. MD was upset on Wednesday when she checked her only to find dialted to 4 and put on modified bedrest until yesterday when she ended back up in and the monitor was going nuts and dialation is slowly progressing so total bedrest now. Also make sure you drink plenty of fluids at least this is what she was told to help derease the intensity and keep the baby hydrated. Take care of yourself and your new bundle of joy. Happy Easter.

Braxton Hicks contractions do come and go. Your abdomen doesn't stay tight for hours at a time. It'll get tight for 30 seconds to 5 minutes but then it'll relax. If yours is tight for hours I would definitely call your health care provider.

Like the others said, drink, drink, drink. Being dehydrated can bring on contractions. And rest!
