What do you think people fed them before there were jarred foods? Those are only a modern convenience, not a mandatory thing.

I was hoping to puree veggies/ etc and freeze or refridgerate them and serve instead of the jarred stuff.
You don't have to feed the jar stuff. I cooked and pureed frozen veggies then put them in ice cube trays, froze them, and then put in baggies in the freezer. 1 cube is like 1.5 oz, so you just take out what you need, heat, and feed. There are some different websites that tell you recipes and how to make your own baby food. The jars are all about convenience, before the jars, people made their own.

A really good resource online is wholesomebabyfood and my favorite book (you can buy used or check it out of your local library) is Super Baby Food. My son mainly had homemade baby food - you can experiement a lot with fruits and veggies not typically in the jars which is a huge plus. We did do some jars for convenience and when we traveled.

I didn't get if for free, but darn well close to it! Shoprite had gerber purees on sale for 3/2, and I had a bunch of Q's for .75/4, which doubled to $1.50. PLUS someone left a ton of the exact same coupons there (just for me, I just know it!!) so I snatched them up and used them as well. Came home with 30 jars of stage 2, and 15 jars of stage 3 and paid practically nothing for them all!!!

I recieved coupons in the mail after I signed up for Beechnut lets grow. One was for a FREE box of infant cereal (up to 2.00) and the other one was for TWO FREE jars of Beechnut infant food, did not specify a size, but it was worth up to 89 cents each. Hope this helps!
