Re: Breastfeeding Question I completely respect your opinion. And it doesnt sound like you are bashing breastfeeding at all...just questioning the public aspect of it.
Here is my opinion: Because breastmilk is often an infants only source of nutrition, I believe mothers should feel comfortable to breastfeed anywhere at anytime. I do feel that it should be done discretely so as not to offend others. Many moms breastfeed on demand which is what most experts agree is the best for babies, so that means that when the baby is hungry - they get fed. No matter if they are at the mall or even in a lunchroom filled with other children.
I do not think young children are negatively affected by seeing a mother breastfeed her baby as it is a natural, loving, nurturing thing to do. Unfortunately, many children see breasts in other unnatural ways (on tv, girls walking down the street half dressed, etc). I think it would be good to educate the child if the parent is with them when they see a mom breastfeeding so that they could understand that this is the way many babies are fed milk.
