PREGGO First trimester exhaustion

Hi everyone,

So, I'm 8 weeks now and ended up sleeping through pretty much all 4 days of my Thanksgiving weekend. I'm back at work today and having a really hard time staying awake.

Is this normal? I think so...but seriously, I've been sleeping 12-15 hours a day.

If so, any suggestions on not passing out at work?

Thanks in advance!

Fun, isn't it? I felt like I had been clubbed over the head. Take naps at your desk at lunch.

Yes, it's very normal. Your body is supplying all the nourishment for a growing human being in there. It's working twice as hard to supply all the nourishment for both you and the baby so it needs plenty of food and rest.

Isn't it amazing how tired you are in those first 3 months! I once got so desparate I laid down on the tile floor in my office and slept for an hour. I could not believe the fatigue. The good news is it gets better - and then as someone pointed out, it gets bad again (mostly because you are carrying more weight). You will make it - it is a small price to pay!!!

Thank you all. I'm glad to know this isn't abnormal. I feel like such a waste. At least my husband is 100% supportive. He was doing all of his chores plus my own this weekend. He said my job was to make a human being. LOL Sweetie.

Still, it seems like a cruel trick that I have to be this tired and am supposed to stay away from caffeine!

I drank coffee while I was pregnant but cut down to two cups a day. IDK- some people would probably say none is better, but my two turned out ok.
