Default Great article about "overparenting"!

Can These Parents Be Saved: The Growing Backlash Against Over-Parenting - TIME

It's a little long, but a good read.

Fabulous Article.

I think I'm not a helicopter parent...mostly cause i'm dang lazy LOL....oh that is just too much work.

What I find hilarious is I have a relative who linked to that article on FB...because she's not a helicopter parent. No the mother of a toddler who is "going to be potty trained before he is 2" and is getting daily preschool lessons via "mommy montessori" because montessori knows everything and he will be so advanced for his age, is not a "helicopter mom" oye. I wished I could of reached through FB and smacked her across the head...as she is the epitome of helicopter mom.

Awesome article! My older son is 4 years old and he has friends at daycare who are in soccer, karate, gymnastics, you name it. I think 4 years old is a little young to be involved in so many extracurricular activities. It seems these kids have no free time to just be kids and play.

My son isn't involved in any activities, but at home he gets to ride his bike, color, play with the dog, or put a helmet on his head and run around pretending he's a Stormtrooper.

I'm part helicopter mom. I won't let my kid go door to door doing sales unless I go. A childhood with myself and Adam Walsh being the same age and a couple of friends having a child molester uncles... that's part of what influences me.
Other than that, I'm pretty much a slacker mom. My kids play by themselves and have since they were little because I'd just let them. My almost 3 year old can take anything and make up stories and play. Earlier she was playing with a belt of hers and that thing was having an adventure and was being good about asking to go potty, and went to the store, and uses coupons... that belt has more personality than some of the kids in my eldest class are allowed to have!
Slacker moms, chilled out parents, unite!
