Okay, So I am not a mom, how ever, I am a aunt who feels like a mom to my 9.5 month nephew, Mason, and a 3 year old nephew Nick. (So I hope its okay that I come & join in) Masons dad (my brother, Nicks Stepdad) is a truck driver...and thier mom...well to put it nicely, shed rather be "in another world" than taking care of the kids.

Mason learnt about a week ago how to pull himself up. Still REFUSES to crawl, but will move around as long as hes holding something. He runs around the house in his walker. To the point, when Hes chasing me, I am in a healthy jog to keep a distance. Little Booger :) About a month ago he was officially diagnosed with aniridia, and he goes on Tuesday for pre-op, then Thursday bright and early in the morning for a ultra sound on his kidneys to see if his left kidney is still swollen, or If there are any tumors (side effect of aniridia) on his kidneys, and also to recheck his eyes for glaucoma.

Nick, Masons big brother, is a little monster. Hes learning a lot of bad things from day care and hitting and spitting. and Most importantly, Talking back, and repeating everything he sees. I let his mother come to pick him up for a couple hours to go to the park down the street, and he comes home telling me to "shut the bleep up." Any suggestions on getting him not to repeat stuff? Or getting him to eat his food?

Oh.. the repeat game!! Its an attention thing, the more you give him attention for it, the more he will do it. You tell him once that its not ok, and then you ingor it from then on. Even saying "stop it" is attention, and he will keep it up. Same goes for the nasty words.. You let him know once that they are not ok, and ingor it from then on out.

As far as eatting... If its something he can help cook.. he might eat it. Maybe he can help measure or something.. try and get him involved. Limit snacks and drinks, if hes hungry enough at dinner time, he will eat it. Dont reward him with food "if you eat all your dinner you can ice cream" that wont help. Let him know "this is whats for dinner, eat it or dont" and dont be scared if he chooses not to eat it. He will be more then ready for breakfast in the morning!

I know it sounds rough.. but it will work.

    Good luck!

    Okay! Thank you!
I let him help me measure and pour in flour for sausage and gravy this morning, and then let him stir it once (I was holding him far enough away so he wouldn't get burnt) and he ate THREE plates full. SO I think He will be helping me from now on Thank you SO much!

Welcome MASONSAUNTIE ~ Sounds like you have your hands full there!! Whew!!

I'm slowly starting to get back into my couponing...I have to do something NON BABY related once in awhile, and so many times I sit down w/ all my Q's b/c Bug is sleeping, and just as I start clipping, papers strewn all over the floor, a cat or 2 sleeping on the papers.......Viola! Bug wakes up. Took me 4 days to get my coupons in order, whew! He fights sleep like his dad, and some days just won't take a nap at all. Instead 'cat naps' for 20 minutes at a time....wearing me out! Then it all catches up w/ him and he'll sleep straight on through the night.

How do you balance everything out and not lose your sanity?

Do you have a swing?? Or a "bouncy seat" (its like fabric with a metal frame that craddles the baby and can bounce or rock a little bit)

My first daughter would ONLY sleep in her swing for the first like 2 months!

I have 3 now.. number 4 on the way.. I think I am pretty sane right now.. but come november.. Im going to lose it.. I know it!

Right now.. my advice would be to "let it go" I know couponing is importaint!! I know its how most of make our budgets work... but you have a brand new baby!! Hes like what.. 3 weeks old?? Relax and let everything else go.. nap and rest when he naps.. and when hes awake relax and enjoy him. Around 6 weeks thing will settle down and he will naturally find a schedule.. untill then.. let it go!!

I go to work and leave her home with DH... LOL.

Seriously, though, I have mastered the art of nursing while clipping coupons. It took awhile, but it does get easier. It's amazing what you learn to deal with. I consider my night a success if I can get 3 or 4 continuous hours of sleep, or if Cara goes right back to sleep after her 2am nursing (as opposed to keeping me up for an hour to play).

Congratulations to all new moms. Does a 39 year old with the flu count? He is the biggest baby when sick

anybody here have experience with weaning an older child while nursing a new one??
I can't handle the jealous screaming fits any more!!!
My DD(almost 18 months) cries every time I nurse my little boy (almost a month), ...comes over, grabs the boob away from him!!! and then throws a full blown fit. If I'm laying down with him(instead of sitting holding him) she will try to climb over him!
    I'm so over it!
I would crash-wean her (is that a word? LOL you know what I mean hopefully) but I dont want her to think I love him more than her or something......

Have you tried a babydoll and let her "nurse" also so she feels like a big girl?? I know it might sound weird but I've heard a lot of parents doing that to help them feel like they are helping and being a part of everything.

My 2yr old ds often tries to nurse and I can only laugh b/c it's so funny. He always wants to hold his little brother (5weeks) and he will put the boppy in his lap, lift up his shirt and want to hold him. He thinks that is the normal way since I nurse this kiddo around the clock it seems:hectic1:.

Those that asked....clipping coupons and stuff will get easier once somewhat of a routine is set in. I used to think that 1 kid was hard, I was such a dummy

btw...can't believe my little man is 5 weeks already b/c it feels like just yesterday he was born. He is still up 2-3 hours a night to nurse but we did that for 13 months with ds #1 so even though it sucks, we are kind of used to it. Asher is now on prevacid b/c of reflux (we think) but haven't seen a gi yet b/c they are sooo dang booked to get in. The meds seem to help and we no longer have high pitched cries and hardly any arching after eating, so hopefully it will fix itself in a few months and he can come off the meds.
