He is up to 7oz of formula and on a pretty decent schedule ( i think ). While he naps a little on and off during the day, he sleeps right on through the night!! WOOWHOOOOO!!!

Not thrilled about him getting shots on Thursday.....not at all......
The first time my son got shots, I was a wreck all night. DH was out of town working and I was home alone with him...I don't think I slept that night. I was a wreck everytime he got shots though.

We have our 2 week appt tomorrow. They want him back to his birth weight, he was 9 pounds 3 ounces when he was 3 days old. He's eating 2 ounces, every 2 hours. He CAN go longer at night. I've had a few 3 hours between feedings a night. What sucks is that he ALWAYS wakes up around 5-6 and then I have to get up at 7 to get the older two up for school, so then I have to stay awake. LOL I've been going to bed by 9 at night then getting up around 1 or so when hubby goes to bed. So I DO get a little bit of uninterrupted sleep at night. I didn't realize how much I love sleep until he came along. It is SO much harder on me now than w/the other three kids.

My kids always got fussy after their shots. Tylenol was our friend afterwards.

Good luck w/the shots. Hopefully he'll do okay.

I'm off to bed. I need my beauty rest. LOL

Hello all, I must say that I am so ashamed of myself for not posting before now. I've just been all over the place, but I think I am kinda settling down now. As some of you may know that I've had my baby already, more like 3 weeks ago Emmanuel Demetrick was born on 10/5/09 at 10:22 am 6lbs 15 oz. He is weigh 7lbs 1oz last Wednesday at his 2 week appointment. Because of the Downs he has a heart murmur so I took him to the cardiologist last Friday and they did an xray and an EKG and everything came back normal. The dr. said all she noticed was normal newborn stuff and that she didn't need to see us again till next summer when he is about 8 or 9 months. So as you may know we are very happy about that. He is getting bigger everyday and I am loving him more and more. You can go to my profile and see pictures of him if you like.

As far as eating, he is up to 3oz now every 2-3 hours. And sleeping, well he goes down at 9, I wake him up around 11 or midnight for a feeding and then he sleeps till about 2 or 3 and then he's up around 6ish and then back to sleep till about 10 (which I sleep right along with him once kiddos and hubby are off to work and school).

We are starting to get all things lined up for getting him some early treatment and financial help for the Downs. I've read that its very important to get started with them while they are young with helping them with their development. The way he responds to our voices is so exciting to know that he knows who we are. When he cries and I say something, he just stops to hear me speak. It is such a joy to know that he knows me and knows that mommy is gonna take good care of him.

To those moms that are breastfeeding. How do you keep you milk supply up, I've been breastfeeding, pumping and supplementing with formula(when I can't get any milk to come) and now I've noticed that my supply is getting lower. What can I do to help increase it so that I can continue to breastfeed. Another problem that I have is him staying latched, he's on for a little while and then he pulls away. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

    Have a blessed night/day.

He's still young so your supply is probably still sorting itself out. It took mine about 4-5 weeks to finally settle and get to a routine. From consultants I have spoken with, you should only pump during that time if you have an oversupply b/c pumping can confuse your body while it's still learning when and how much to produce.

Sometimes I feel like I don't have any milk, b/c my boobs aren't solid all the time anymore(thank goodness) but then he latches and I feel the milk coming in...so amazing how the body works!

You can try feeding around the clock, no pumping/no formula, to see if that will increase your supply. Weird..but more out always means more coming in. Supply and demand.

If not, fenugreek pills untill you smell like maple syrup, oatmeal in the morning, mothers milk tea, sleep and no stressas if those last 2 happen with a new baby!!

My kiddo is 10 weeks now, he's doing well. Up 2x at least a night and I have no clue how many ounces he drinks. I normally can pump 4-5 so that's what he gets. But I only pump maybe once per week b/c I can't find time to do it!

I want to do delayed vaccines and my pedi isn't a fan, so I'm calling around this week looking for someone new.

DW ~ So happy to hear that he is doing well!!! I have worked with many Down's children and have to tell you that they have been THE MOST enjoyable to work with in so many different ways!!! I have no advice for you on the breastfeeding as Bug is formula fed from day one. Good thing too, cause that kid came out w/ the suction of a Dyson vacuum! ""Save the girls"" is all that kept going through my head!! lol

DW- I never got my supply to come in enough to pump enough milk for when I'm at work, so Caroline gets at least two bottles of formula a day. I took Fenugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, ate oatmeal, drank more water... I try to nurse her exclusively on the weekends/evenings, but sometimes she drains me dry and still wants more!

Hi ladies, I'm taking fenugreek (learned that with my last one..love the way it makes me smell), don't eat oatmeal and I've never heard of Mothers Milk Tea (thats a new one). So I'm trying breastfeed as often as possible. He gets on there and sometimes falls asleep, so I have to wake him up. Once he decides he doesnt want to be on anymore, he still acts like he's still hungry so I have to supplement him with some formula. I don't want to give up the breastfeeding, but if he's not getting enough/staying latched on then I have to do the formula cuz I want him to have enough to eat. I had plenty of milk the second week....came in like a flood....so I was able to pump and freeze some, but its not enough to last long...Luckily I stocked up on a few cans of formula before he got here, so we are ok for a little while....

Does anyone else have a problem with their baby having a lot of hiccups. He got them constantly when I was carrying him and now he gets them just about after every feeding. The dr said that it is ok just to give a little milk to help it go away. But I am getting concern about that. I've never had this with the other kids...:shrug7: I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that he has Downs. He doesn't cry when its happening, its just a concern to me. I don't want to ignore something if there is something and I don't want to worry about something that isn't there either :hectic1:

Caroline would get hiccups twice a day or more up until a few weeks ago. Totally scared me, too! She seemed fine and the doctors were never concerned.

Oh, my son loved to latch on, take a few drinks, and fall asleep snuggled up with me... and then be hungry 20 mins later!

I had to take all his clothing off, so he would eat naked.. and then when he would start to dose, I would wipe the bottom of his feet with a cold washcloth to startle him awake again!

And he got hiccups a lot also! Like others have said, have him take a few drinks to stop them.
