Default I found out something interesting about KMart kids' clothing.

I was in the Hamptons for my brother's wedding, and there were several managers talking in the clothing section (DS needed a spare shirt). I complimented them on their organized store and the fact that it had Land's End in it.

The lady in the group was the national merchandising manager, and she said that all of their clothing designers for their Basic Editions clothing come from the Gap and Banana Republic.

So for basic stuff, I think that's good to know. The cheapy shirt that I picked up that day has held up really well.

Hmm... that's interesting!

Several years ago my mom and step-dad used to drive long-haul truck for a company that transported for Gap, Inc.

My mom told me that once, they picked up a load from a large Gap, Inc. distribution center and drove it a couple of states away. When they got to the smaller distribution center and their load was checked, they were told that the load needed to be returned, as the wrong labels had been sewn into the clothes. My mom made some comment about Old Navy tags on Gap clothes and the guy told her, "No, Kmart." My mom asked how in the heck that could happen and the guy said, "They're made at the same place."

I thought at the time she was saying this so I would stop shopping at Gap and go to Kmart instead. But when I asked her years later, long after I was buying my own clothes, she told me it was true... or at least that's what the guy told her.
