Tofu (soy) and almonds are both good, calcium rich foods for making milk out of. While I agree that almonds don't have a considerable amount of fat (though soy and tofu are acceptable for over 1 year of age according to my children's practitioner), after age 2 it is recommended to cut down on fat anyway, making them a better alternative all the way around.
I still nurse my kids, so it isn't as big a deal if they have almond or soy at this point...
Just another nobody in the midst of all the somebodies.
DH dislikes soymilk of any kind so he gets a half gallon once or twice a month of skim milk.
DS receives whole milk from WIC. As of next month he'll get skim or 1% since he's turning 2 years old. At that point, him and DH will be taken care of.
I am lactose intolerent and have drank only soy or rice milk since I was a child. If it wasn't for WIC we'd switch solely to soymilk for DS and I for cost and conveience. DH would either follow suit, not drink milk, or go buy it himselfSo likely one of the first two...
