Kindergarten-how does it work in your area?

I find this thread very interesting being an educator.

Wher I am in Central FL, Kindergarteners go full day, five days a week. 8:45-3:00 M,T,TH,F with early release 2:00 on W.

My daughter just started Pre-K and the state pays for 3.5 hours (9:30-12:00). I pay 110.00 a week for 12:00-6:00. Expensive I know:sad: But it is a great church school that focuses on structured academics in the morning and social skills in the afternoon.

8:15 - 2:35 M-F

K-12 all goes the same time, to the same school, AND they all ride the bus together!

My ds goes 1/2 days 5 days a week. I'm glad they didn't switch to full days around me. The change from 3 days a week to 5 is enough for him.

My boys were in Kindergarten last year, they went 5 days a week, 8:25-2:45. They attend a charter school and were guaranteed to go full days, even when the local school district was talking about moving to half days to save $$.

We live in MN where there is no guaranteed full day Kindergarten, it is determined on a district by district basis.

the state pays for preschool and it is 830 to 230 and she starts kingeration next year and it is 830 230 also and the preschool also feeds them breakfest snack and lunch.

My kindergartner goes 5 days a week, M-Thur 7:50-3:30 and Fri 7:50-1:20 the same as my 2nd grader. When I was in school it was the same all around. There was no half days or part of the week, you went 5 days a week for a full day of learning.

I live in FL and it is 8:30-2:30, M-F

In PA, full day vs. half day is decided by each district. My kids went full day 9:00 to 3:30 with the rest of the elementary school, five days a week.

I'm glad that ours is set up how it is. It's 2 full days and one half day. Kids in zone 1 and 3 go M/W full day & Friday morning, zone 2 and 4 are T/T full day & Friday afternoon. This is good for her and for her baby sister who is so upset that her sister gets on the bus! Next year she'll either go to the elementary school next door or the Catholic school down the street. Our kindergarten and the special preschool (it's called typical peers and pairs average kids with special needs kids) are set apart from the regular elementary schools here (no funding to build another school of kindy would be in each one).
Our elementary has it's own start time, middle school it's own and high school it's own. Makes for easier traffic!

It's full day I think in all of NJ - at least everywhere that I know of. It used to be half day years ago, but they changed that a while back.
