Hi,

I'm a stay at home mom with an almost 2 year old. Money is very tight but I need some new clothes and make-up. Can anyone suggest coupons/deals?

I've seen people mention Kohls $10 off $10 but I don't know where to get the coupon or how it works. CVS once ran a BOGO deal on lipstick that combined with a $4 coupon made it free but I haven't noticed anything like that recently.

Back in the day when I had a job my budget for clothing, hair, nails, etc. was about $200-250 per month. My budget is now...well just remove the zeros. :)

Can you get a lipstick or eye make up at the dollar store? I think just eye makeup or lipstick really perks me up, but if I put on both, it is too much.

I don't know how I got the kohl's 10 bucks. It came in the mail and I bought a 13 dollar shirt for 3 dollars. Sometimes I just get one or two tops from goodwill to add to what I have. I try to get things that look classic and not too trendy so I can keep them longer. Some goodwills are better than others. Good luck! I wish I never had to buy new clothes, but sometimes stains happen.

I'm thinking about getting a new head band to stretch out weeks between haircuts. Maybe they will have one at the dollar store?

Here are a few ideas.

Try Craigslist, Bealls when they have an additional 40% off clearance, consignment stores, thrift stores and the best place of all yard sales. I have found that Church yard sales offer the best deals because they will sell usually by the bag. good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was at Dollar Tree this morning and happened to notice some stretchy elastic head bands. That's a great idea and headbands look nice with the usual pony tail too.

Check out freecycle.org and find a chapter in your area. There are always a lot of people giving away nice clothes. The whole concept behind it is to recycle it so it get reused rather than resold or thrown away.

What about trying to find another mom who dresses like you sense of style and ask if there are any clothes she is looking to get rid of?? What about consignment stores?

sign up for kohl's, jcpenney and gordman's email updates. I get kohl's and jcpenney 10/10 every few months in the snail mail and gordman's (if you have one nearby) will email me and let me know when they are having an extra 33% or 50%off clearance on their clothes about once a month and i often get an extra 20% off coupon in the email for a single item(not sure if it can be used on clearance or not, i forget). Also i know last year sears had an awesome clearance event in september and you could get alot of nice items for for as low as .99 a piece, but most items were 3-4$ items. I know gordman's had a similar sale at the same time because i remember buying christmas gifts and getting women's clothes for 2-3$ a piece. Normally when the season's change is when the deals are the best. I hoping sears will have their sale again next month and gordman's too, so i can get a few things for my bday and get some more christmas gifts cheap.

I always keep my make up coupons together. I do a walk-thru in the clearance section of stores like Target, CVS, Walmart...whenever I'm there already and see if anything matches up. I've had a lot of luck with this at Target, often getting stuff for free or less than $1.

I always do the same thing for the clearance sections for clothes. I try to always do a walk-thru, but sometimes it will require some digging. But I have often found clothes for less than $5 per item. Usually closer to $1.00. A few days ago, I found my brother a pair of men's Levi's and Wrangler's Loose fit Jeans for $3.25 and $4.68 at Target. Good luck.

I don't know if you have a Farm & Fleet in your area, we have them in Illinois, but they had some really nice and trendy Junior & Misses clothes on their clearance racks and most of them were only marked $5.88 each. I picked up a bunch of clothes for my niece for school and only spent 80 dollars.

Also, through the end of the month, they have the men's Dickies work jeans on sale for $10.99 with a $5.00 per pair rebate making them only $5.99 apiece after rebate, and the rebate in unlimited, we got my husband 7 pairs of them.
