Re: Tips for taking away the binkie With my SD, DH said that she took it out and threw it on the floor. The dog picked it up and chewed it up. After that, there was no more paci... all gone, dog ate it.
My neice threw hers in the fireplace. All gone. They had to rush and find and destroy the rest of them that were around the house. Months later, my nephew found one under the bed, "Look, Evie! I found your paci!". Next thing you know, Evie has the paci in her mouth. My SIL pulled it from her mouth and said, "No, it's dirty" Nephew tells her to go wash it. SIL runs to the kitchen, Evie steady following. She cuts the nipple part off, and shows Evie that it's broken.
DS never got hooked on the paci, thank goodness. My friend is practically forcing her newborn to take one, because she'd rather have him suck a paci, than his thumb. Because "you can take a paci away, you can't take his thumb away." FTR, my DS sucked his thumb until he was oh, two weeks old. I've decided to not have pacifiers in the house with this baby at all. *shrug*
I'm sorry I don't have better advice. And I was NOT critisizing you for giving DD a binkie. (Friend, friends SIL, and I got into a heated discussion at the hospital over binkies) I'm not trying to start trouble or anything. :)
