Default Re: Breastfeed in Restaurants OK or not OK?

If I am in a restaurant and it's covered up, I am fine with that.
I had kids, so I understand.
But I would prefer not seeing it "all out there" as I am eating.
No offense, but I prefer some modesty while I have a burger in my hand.
And I have two teenage boys with an overload of hormones right now, and having them see someone with everything hanging out while we are eating would put me over the edge. I can just hear the comments and snickers from them.
Granted breastfeeding is natural and beautiful, but try explaining that to two teenage boys who thinks boobs are natures fun toys, put there for their viewing pleasure.

Default Re: Breastfeed in Restaurants OK or not OK?

I breastfeed at home and pump while at work.
If I go out into public with the baby, I always make sure I have a bottle because I've never seen another woman breastfeed in public so I just can't do it...

I've breastfed in the car twice, in the doctor's office behind closed doors, and that's it...every other time she has a bottle filled with breast milk or we're at home and I'm breastfeeding.
I do have a lot of stress trying to keep enough filled bottles of breastmilk...

I agree with PP^^ I dont mind as long as its not all out for everyone to see. I never breastfed but if I did I would be very modest about it.

This quote covers it all in my opinion. I did it, critics don't seem to understand the importance of breastfeeding your children.

"If a multinational company developed a product that was a nutritionally balanced and delicious food, a wonder drug that both prevented and treated disease, cost almost nothing to produce and could be delivered in quantities controlled by the consumers' needs, the very announcement of their find would send their shares rocketing to the top of the stock market. The scientists who developed the product would win prizes and the wealth and influence of everyone involved would increase dramatically. Women have been producing such a miraculous substance, breastmilk, since the beginning of human existence. "

I understand the logic, the natural function, the pacticality, etc. I stand with others who are not personally offended, but also prefer some modesty.

Personally, I am lucky that a pump works for me, so I give Caroline pumped milk when I'm out in public.

HOWEVER- I think it's ridiculous to criticize nursing moms for nursing in public. If a girl can walk around in a two tiny little strips of cloth and call it a bathing suit, then I (and anyone else) should be able to nurse my child in public, especially since after you get the baby latched- you don't even see nipple. You just see the same part of breast that you see everyday with these teenage girls and young ladies who are dressing immodestly.

Personally I turn my face away everytime I see a mom getting out a bottle of formula to feed her baby. That stuff is nasty and both the bottle and baby should be covered up with a blanket to prevent people from being exposed to such a gruesome view.

Doesn't bother me. Most women seem to figure out how to cover up.
