Good books for a second grader?

What are some good reads for a child going into 2nd grade?

DH has been bring the kids to the library weekly, and they have reading time daily.

He's kind of clueless about what to get her.

Any suggestions?

My daughter is going into 2nd grade as well. She loves the Junie B. Jones series and the Geronimo Stilton series.

My son loved Magic Treehouse - I think it is good for girls too.

I don't know if its age appropriate yet, but my sister loved the Babysitters Club Little Sister books.

DS2 would check out Arthur books, Horrible Harry and If you gave a Pig a Pancake(there are a few in that series).

My daughter is going into second grade. This summer she has been reading the Little House on the Prairie series, the American girls series, and the Wizard of Oz series.

Another vote for Junie B. I have a girl going into 2nd grade also. I have thought about starting the Beverly Cleary Ramona series also. I loved those when I was younger. Another suggestion is finding a topic your child is interested in then taking it from there. My daughter loves books with dogs so sometimes she just walks through picks out books with dogs on the front cover.
