We use cornstarch on all my daughter's rashes...most creams will cause a build up on the cloth diapers and the cornstarch works amazing.
I (heart) Aquaphor, too, and Triple Paste!

LOL, this is an old post. That baby might even be potty trained by now.![]()
hahaha! You are right he is just about potty trained....with the occasional accident. No more red bottoms!
But maybe this thread will help someone else....Great advice from everyone...
The 2 types of diaper rash cream I ended up using that worked the best for us was Boudreaux Butt paste and Target Up and Up brand (I cant remember the exact type b/c there are many but it worked great!)

Been a long time for me too..but what always worked was baking soda bath & whatever ointment I had on hand..by morning it was usually gone..
Glad to hear things cleared up. Just thought I would add anyway for anyone else that I side with the vote for Boudreaux's Butt Paste, I had tried a lot of the other tricks and this one worked for us. Also when the butt was at its reddest I would soak his bottom in a baby oatmeal bath and not use diaper wipes for his changing.
To each his own, I hope this can stay around for the mothers that need it. I had to call everyone I know for their ideas and settled on ours.

A stubborn or severe diaper rash may actually be yeast. We went through that once with DD. Used monistat cream on her bottom, and it helped. Just have to be sure and stay on it for about 3 days even after the rash is cleared.
If baby has been on antibiotics and had diarrhea, probiotics may help. DD's doctor recommends to all her patients, both kids and adults, to take probiotics along with antibiotics. She said the med is more easily absorbed and less is lost through the stool. You can also open a probiotic capsule and apply directly to the bottom.
Bottoms up!
