1 part triple antibiotic (like neosporin) to 2 parts Bag balm. Seriously the BEST stuff for ANY kind of rash.

This is mosrt definitely related to what you ate and diarrhea. Poor baby! Lotrimin won't do anything for this- as its mainly for yeast infections (topical).

I would apply something thick to help repel any more diarrhea and to soothe the skin. I particularly like calendula creams. Calendula is an all natural herb that soothes skin and irritation. Works great. Earth's Best has a calendula cream and California Baby has one that we really like.

Hope he gets better soon!!

I see you have gotten some great suggestions. Try plain corn starch. It is the best diaper rash treatment!! It works so good! And if that doesn't work, Butt Paste is the best cream! Good luck!

aw, I hope he feels better soon.

My doctor recommended hydrocortisone cream for my little girls diaper rash and it worked really well, as well as on heat rash on her face and neck. I forget if he recommended to use it twice or three times a day so I'd tell you twice a day.

If this has never happened before and he didn't have any kind of diarrhea from eating the spicy foods, just keep an eye on this too to make sure it wasn't an allergic reaction.

I agree airing out his diaper area is one of the best things you can do.
We use lotrimin and lamisil and have used tinactin as well.

There are script ointments for fungal infections that are stronger if it doesn't clear up.

Another thing you can try to soothe him is let him sit in a sitz bath (just add epsom salt to warm water in the tub) for like 10-15 minutes and then pat dry. make sure you wash that towel!

Hope he is feeling better! I cannot tell you how many times we have been through bad diaper rashes with my dd.

When my dd had a nasty rash it would hurt to rub the ointment on her bottom, so my mom suggested putting it on the diaper itself. That seemed to work and she didnt cry. I have just used destin and never had any problems. I also would give her extra baths to just sit in to relax her down there. Seemed to clear up in a day to a day and a half. If it last for more than 2 days or gets worse, might wanna call the doc just incase.

Hope your lil one gets better soon!

I would sit him in the sink with a few inches of water and a bunch of baking soda (enough to make it cloudy). Keep him in it as long as he is willing to sit there. Then, let him run "free" until he is totally dry before diapering him, just throw some vaseline on to keep the area from continuing to be irritated. It does the trick every time for my kids. You don't want to go by all that expensive stuff if this is not a common occurrance.

Whenever my 15 month old gets a red and bumpy bum I dab on a thin coating of Maalox and let him run around naked while we're at home, and use Desitin (regular, not creamy) when he does need a diaper. Our ped said the quickest way to get rid of a rash was to just let the air get at it. Works every time!

Look in his mouth and make sure he doesn't have thrush! My DD had a terrible diaper rash (years ago) and when I took her to the doctor he looked in her mouth and the back of her tongue was white, along with the sides of her cheeks.
